Encyclopedia Dramatica On Alcon: A Public Apology

We, the maintainers of the wiki website Encyclopedia Dramatica, would like to publically apologise for the page entitled “Alcon,” which we have recently deleted from our servers. Below we have detailed the action we have taken, and our problems with the page which led up to the action being taken.
1. The page was ambiguously titled “Alcon,” giving the false impression that it was an informational article about the UK anime convention of the same name. Its actual nature was that of an attack article directed at one Michael Towers. Encyclopedia Dramatica is not a place for people to push their own private agenda.
2. The subject matter of the article was hashed and inconsistent, jumping wildly between different tacks of criticism against said Towers. Encyclopedia Dramatica is not a place for witless attack articles.
3. The grammar and spelling were severely substandard. Encyclopedia Dramatica is not your personal spellchecker. If it looks bad to you, it’ll look ten times as bad to everyone else.
4. The page had become a magnet for vandals.
The following action has been taken as a result.
1. The page has been completely deleted and moved to a page called “FreeSaiyan,” although “Alcon” and “Mike Towers” will both redirect to it.
2. The subject matter has been reorganised to make it clear that the page is, in fact, about the organiser of Alcon and his other projects (rather than simply establishing a false premise and seeking to tar the rest of the subject matter by proxy).
3. The writing has been greatly improved, spelling and grammar corrected, unnecessary paragraphs trimmed and formatting fixed to make the content easier on the eye.
4. The page has been protected from all further edits (although you can help to keep ED’s standards up by properly “Wikifying” the page – that is to say, making sure that other pages both within ED and on external websites link to it).
If anyone feels that we have failed to perform our duties as sysops, we may be reached via our respective talk pages on the wiki or reached via Encyclopedia Dramatica’s IRC channel for further contributions and arbitration. In closing, we would like to apologise once again for the shockingly shoddy standards of the recent attack article on Mike Towers, and assure all our readers that similarly offending articles will be similarly deleted.
