Prepare for a heated debate Mr Morten. (Replace "heated debate" with
"all out flame war" actually) BTW, I do not think there us anything in
the group charter which disallows discussion of hentai, etchi, or any
other forms of animated pornography here. (IIRC that is, it's been a
long time since i read it). Another thing, this NG has been around for
quite a while without "Enraged parents" threatening it's existence. Oh,
for f--- sake, you've got me started now, and i don't even watch the
stuff.

1. They'll have to know what manga are in the first place.
2. For a kid to buy a copy would be next to impossible, even assuming
they knew where to go (unless you think that credit cards are handed out
like confetti to juveniles).
3. In your wisdom, you've just supplied them with a pointer to find
images that are *FAR* worse than any you would see in a yaoi manga. So
who's the idiot?!

Why would you go to a binaries newsgroup for a general discussion? It's
not as if we are posting pictures or even links on here to direct
sources of Yaoi manga.

And what's wrong with *talking* about 'pornography' if it relates to the
subject area that you are interested in?

Well hooray for Pokemon and Digimon. You cannot ignore that with even
the most harmless of anime (e.g. CCS) you will get etchi dojinshi. Sex
has an amazing presence in the Anime world and it shouldn't be ignored.
You can't sweep it under the carpet by banning all discussion of it.
I agree that I would prefer it if people would not jump to the
conclusion that every anime show is Fist of the North Star or
Urotsukidoji but that can only happen if people actually see the stuff
that we watch. I don't think Digimon and Pokemon have softened attitudes
at all as all it proves it that Japan can produce sex, violence and the
odd fad that the West will follow like sheep.
> If children who use this newsgroup to seek out Pokemon info start

It will lead to them being confused, sure. How many child Pokemon fans
know what Yaoi means? I mean, how many Pokemon fans know who Musashi and
Kojiro are? [they are the Japanese names for Jessie and James of Team
Rocket]

I cannot recall the last time a newsgroup caused a media storm because I
don't think one ever has. There is the odd storm-in-a-teacup like the
one you're having. Thank you for your displeasure but I assure you that
it is unnecessary.

There's nothing wrong with some discussion and anyone with a bit of

FWIW, if there isn't a .d group for the alt.binaries group referred to,
then it probably isn't appropriate to discuss things there.

That's be pretty damn inconvenient, if you ask me. First of all you got

if you don't keep killing and drinking other peoples mung-juice it'll

Oh re-he-he-ally...
> Although seemingly harmless in the eyes of posters like Wednesday it

And who created you as manga-no-kami? Or as newsgroup moderator? Actually,
for your information, this is an open group about anime and, whatever your
taste might be toward anime in general or hentai or outright pornographic
anime might be, if it is on topic then neither you nor anyone else has the
right to restrain posting about it.
> Anime and manga have always had a bad reputation in Britain, and it is
> only since the appearance of Pokemon and Digimon that these attitudes
> have softened.
Newsflash; anime and manga has a bad rep because of hysterical, uninformed
morons and various parts of the media looking for easy headlines. If
anything, groups like this one and people such as Wednesday tend to have a
much more enlightened view and a larger repetoire than titles such as
Pokemon and Digimon, titles that have been made specifically for children
and have been emasculated to within an inch of their lives.
> If children who use this newsgroup to seek out Pokemon info start
> getting curious about all these Y-manga references then its pretty
> obvious where that will lead.
If you knew anything about Usenet, you would know that it is an open
medium for open discussion. If we moderated down all groups on the
suspicion that children might be reading, we'd all start talking like
Barney the bleedin' Dinosaur (I just lo-o-o-ove what Weird Al does to that
purple freak in his tribute to Jurassic Park!) It's about time that people
stood up to the enraged minority and the Nanny state.
> Enraged parents will be calling on all i.s.p.'s to block all anime/manga

There you go again with the "our" thing. This group has been discussing
all forms of anime, whether it be ultra violent like the Overfiend stuff,
silly like Dragon Half or hentai like Rei-Rei. It has dealt with the
Sensualist, heck they've even considered Dr. Slump which ties many of the
forms discussed together, including the occasional bit of toilet or sexual
humour. So where is the outraged comment?
> There are plenty of adult-manga newsgroups so please restrict your
> posting to them.
Are there really? You mean rec.arts.anime.*? For your information, this
group was set up many years ago as a forum for British anime interest.
Some of us also subscribe over there, and if you want to try your luck
there, be my guest. However, if you want to go to a.b.p.e.a, please go.
Then we won't have to listen to your drivel.

B.Sc? Which uni? And since when has this been a guarantee of anything more
than the ability to book learn? I've seen too many graduates who cannot
apply their learning to real life. Flashing your qualifications around is
no guarantee that anyone will be impressed, and since I am well associated
with graduates myself, I can only suggest that you shame them by even
attempting to force your point by using your qualifications in this way.

Rimmer: A White Hole?
Kryten: Mm. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, a
black hole sucks time and matter out of the universe, a white hole
returns it.
Lister: So that thing's spewing time, back into the universe?
Kryten: Precisely. That's why we're experiencing these curious
time phenomena on board.

Kryten: Like just then, when time repeated itself.

Cat: Only joking!
Lister: OK, so it's decided then. We consult Holly.
Cat: Hey, wait a minute! I missed the discussion!
Rimmer: We all did.
Kryten: Time is occurring in random pockets. The laws of causality
no longer apply. An action no longer leads to a consequence.

I recall a year or so ago there were quite a lot of Princess Bride bride
