Elvis, you have *no* taste, although I have to admit that Planet Earth is
worth a visit if only for it's magical revolving dancefloor. (Why magical, i
hear you ask? The minute you step on it you are turned into a wanker.)

BTW - <rant>on the subject of Leeds clubs, NATO is run by absolute bastards
and has no decent nights on anyway (apart from Red Raw which is only just
about bearable and only once a month anyway). They have no taps in the main
dance room and sell bottled water that they bottle themselves for some
exorbitant price (1.60? I can't remember, as staff weren't allowed to drink
anything other than soda from the side bar, which was a pain if you were
working in the main room). The manager was boasting that to bottle and
package and ship the water cost 6p per bottle...</rant>

The only Leeds nightclub I ever feel like going to is the Underground,
which is dead good, you can actually sit down, have a bottle of wine,
have a meal even.... or dance, watch the band... it's a proper
_nightclub_, not a disco. I fully recommend it.

I never said i knew where the cool places were, only that there were cooler
ones than those.

I understand that places such as "liquid" are cool - the only time i went
there it was full of people who were considerably more fashionable than me,
although planet earth was too, so that's not saying much.

The club formerly known as café mex is also rather trendy, i understand from
my considerably more fashionable housemates. and they had a very good time
the last time they went there...

IMHO:- its better now than it ever was. Plenty of variety, different clubs
with different people and different music. You can pick the club for the
mood your in.

Lager and tarts = Ritzy
Cool and funky = Underground
Posey, attitude = Nato
Commercial, impress your non-Leeds mates = Majestyx
16yr olds = Planet Earth
Dream/Galaxy = Europa

++ plus loads of others like Liquid that I can't be bothered mentioning at
the moment.

Don't get me wrong, there were some good nights out in the past e.g.
'Craigs (Don Johnson white jackets), Acid Night@The Warehouse
(Aciiiieeeeedddddd, smily culture), Vague (before the door staff got all
arsey after being on the Essential Selection). But the whole scene is
better now.

IMHO: Could do with a bit more Drum&Bass or speed garage.

Only one which is *exclusively* for clubbing. (Being a purple sparkly
lycra blouse, it doesn't quite work in other situations)

The sea is quite cool at this time of year and that's mostly liquid.

I *like* Planet Earth.

Well, Mr Dave Beer is up & running again, at Think Tank (Cafe Mex), on a
Saturday night, good line ups in a Dave Stylee. Andy Weatherall has
taken up residency at Liquid on a Sunday night. Glasshouse is a new
club along a similar line to Vague for a mixed sexuality crowd. The old
Vague lot are still running Speed Queen @ Warehouse (for speed garage
nuts).

The Music Factory is having a refurbishment & the rumour machine has it
that Dave Beer will be promoting, to open in the summer, bringing it all
back home.

The pleasure Rooms now hosts Amsterdam Sex Klub - mixed line ups.

Sundissential (day time Sunday clubbing, anything goes!!!) is coming to
Europa in March.

You can catch Curtis Zack Daisy & Havoc et al at the Fruit Cupbourd most
weeks, (Call Lane).

I tink that that is da best, the rest? Forget it, chicken in a basket
stylee!

Enjoy!

This place is spot on

Music - 10/10 -mark grey 7 till 9am on sunday, excellent.
people - smiling faces, a club full of real people enjoying life and not
giving a damn.
Door Men - friendly.
Managment - clubbers through and through with respect for everybody.

Charm - Just when you start to overheat the condensation starts dripping
of the glass roof and on to your heads - home made air conditioning.

Best Saturday night in yonks and only round the corner from Majestic.

Actually, "variety" in this case means "some slightly different groove
than the others, same basic dance stuff however".

The only clubs really offering something _different_ are not mentioned
below, such as Le Phono (rock) and the Cockpit (rock/indie). Clubbing
is not just about dance music. Or, rather, it is, but it shouldn't be.
I like a good groove as much as the next person but not all the time!

And that's just the bar staff.

You must be joking! If I want to impress anyone with how decent Leeds
is, the Underground is the only contender. Majestyx is a barn full of
bimmers.

Why not, it's one of the few decent ones. You also missed out Cafe Mex,
small, bohemian, good.

Piss poor!! That is unless you really want garage and soft house.
Personally i prefer hard-house-techno, which has pretty much dried up in
Leeds

I think, although i'm not sure, that it means "anything goes". That is,
anything (think of a list of things, and then any of them) goes (is OK).

anybody care to elaborate?

I think you'll find the phrase "anything goes" is actually a mis-spelling of
a phrase often used in Leeds clubs. "Thingo's" is a new alcopop available in
only a few places. Clubbers therefore have to approach the bar and ask if
they have "any Thingo's"
