I'm currently expanding my WWW site [the Regional Seat of Misrule 6 -
named after the similarly named former nuclear bunker up the road from
me], and one of the items I hope to include is a page dedicated to life
in Reading and the surrounding areas.
Subjects would be anything from leisure, local media, famous
Redingensians, photos of Reading sights [the wierder the better], UFO
sightings, info on Aldermaston/Burgfield [not rabid anti-nuke stuff, but
informed discussion on the safety implications of significant amounts of
plutonium being carted through highly populated areas] , and the
'darkside' of Reading [crime, drugs].
The site would have an irreverent air to it, as a contrast to the worthy
but bland 'offical' sites like http://www.conect.co.uk [good if you want
to see what crimes have been committed or how many fire engines there
are in Berkshire!] or http://www.reading-bc.gov.uk [the offical Reading
Council WWW site.]
Anyone here got anything they would like to contribute? To start off,
here's a list of famous, not so famous [and infamous] current [or
former] Reading residents...
* Chris Tarrant [Capital Radio DJ and 'Tiswas' presenter/producer]
* The kid from T-Bag [old Thames kids show] who used to be regularly
seen in Reading [and would promptly get kicked in for being a big-head]
* Jenny Hanley [ex-Magpie presenter]
* Rudolph Walker [actor, from 1970s sitcom "Love Thy Neighbour". His
daughter Shona went to my school, along with
* Shena [Tracey! - she changed her name as Tracey wasn't exactly
'soulful' ] McSween - up and coming soul diva
* Michelle McSween [her younger sister] - up and coming actress
* Paul Charles - young actor, best known for breakdancing in 80s kids
show "Behind the Bike Sheds"
* Oscar Wilde [banged up in HMP Reading for homosexuality]
* Stacey Keach [banged up in HMP Reading for drugs]
* Kate Winslet [actress, appeared in Sense and Sensibility, and in more
revealing roles in other films]
Any more for any more?

Senna Close just round the corner from me.Wasn't he supposed to have lived
