Just so that outside observers don't think we're a whining bunch, any
suggestions on the *best* places to live in North Wales?

Umm... best three then?

Coedpoeth.. near enough to civilisation but far from the problems of
urban areas.... Also pretty nice and civilised. And its where I grew up
which always gives you a rosy glow on a place.

If you can get to the wettest, greyest place in Wales today, you will see
that the sun is shining. Mind you, now you can also see the slate
waste. Ah well, never mind!!!!

Didn't that bloke who played Bobby Grant in Brookside and then went on to do
Cracker etc. used to live in Coedpoeth?

My mum's side of the family come from Denbigh. My nain used to live in
Bryn Teg before it became the outskirts of a housing estate.. Spent many
a summer up in Denbigh. Most of it hanging around the castle (which you
could get in for free as a resident) or at the swimming baths. I
suppose this would be the early 80's. I was staying at my nains when
the earthquake shook north wales. I was in bed at the time and thought
it was my sister shaking the bed mucking around...

I lived there during the late 70s or early 80s. I used to live at the very
end of a road which was in between a pub and a corner shop (the owner was
called Tony). Denbigh-ites will be either nodding or thinking 'where the
hell is he on about'.

As a resident of Sandy Cove, (Sadly lumped in with Criminal Bay), I protest
at the comment above! Criminal Bay isn't that bad..... Not if you discount
(former) residents like Peter Moore....... and the current contender for the
Welsh Office award for Whining Councillor Of The Year, Peter
Murray........And all the Rhyl dole-ites who are moving into the Clwyd Alyn
housing estate on Clwyd Park........And all the coffin dodgers who let their
dogs shit in my front garden...........

Oh dear, you're right............Sigh.........

Right, it certainly is not Denbigh, because for people outside Denbigh,
it is SOOO annoying when people say something like "I went to the shops
and I bought sausages, yn i"

I mean, lets think about the environment here!! How much oxygen do
Denbighans (I think thats right!!) waste by saying yn i, at the end of
every blummin' sentence?

Its not Towyn, is too close to Kinmel (Criminal) Bay, which in turn is
too close to Rhyl for ANYONE'S liking!!

Old COlwyn is the best, Colwyn Bay has got a bad image, but Old Colwyn is
like a totally different community, but still close enough to Colwyn bay
and benefit from its amenities like cheap takcy shops, and rough pubs etc
etc. :) Na, you know what I mean, a 24 hour garage, which is the only
around for ages unless you are in Llanddulas or Abergele. Tesco's garage
isn't even 24 hour anymore!! But I am going off on a tangent here!!

yeah, Old Colwyn for everyone!!

WOW! I thought exactly the same thing at the time (though obviously not
*your* sister). There I was, having a good nap, when the bed starts shaking,
and thought it was some family member shaking the bed to try getting me up.
It was the most action the bed had ever experienced..... ;-)

hwyl!
