I didn't know he was a Wrexham lad, but I presume you're talking about
Judge Jeffreys, the Hanging Judge of the Bloody Assizes, who was busy in
the aftermath of the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685. Try shoving any of
those terms into a search engine and see what comes up!

Woo Hoo! Judge Jefferies is the reason we're not popular in the West
Country. Just read about him then come back here!

I originate from Somerset, like most of the kids in the area I was told stories
of Judge Jefferies and it did frighten the kids!!! Trouble is he was for real!
Two other things about him, he allegedly suffered from raging toothache during
the Bloody Assizes which is given as an excuse for his excesses, he went on to
become Lord Chief Justice but (I think) fell from grace.

Judge Jeffreys, the infamous hanging judge of the Bloody Assizes of l685
was born in Acton Hall, Wrexham in l645.
The hall was demolished long ago and the park itself become the Acton
Park housing estate in the 1960s.
All that remains of the estate are the gates on Chester Road.
