Isn't Wales.NorthAmericanCommercialEnterprise (com) slightly strange?
Likewise saying Wales is a non profit making organisation :)

Anyway, spam is bad! (especially for fake TLD's)

They are not TLD's, they are second level domains, just like .co.uk
and.org.uk are second level domains of .uk

And as far as Wales.NorthAmericanCommercialEnterprise (com) being slightly
strange, then any uk or welsh company using the .com domain is in the same
position.

Thanks for you comments anyway

:o)

Why is it?
The domain has been in use by companies for over 5 years and they are very
happy with the service.
You may not want to use it yourself, but that doesn't mean that there are
others like you.

Does that mean central nic have been conning for years with the domains
.uk.com or.gb.com and what about others like .uk.co
They are all simply providing the same service for those that want it.

You will never be able to get a .wales domain (www.yourname.wales) as there
is not enough demand, so this is about as close as you can get

Take a look at www.welsh-domains.co.uk and make up your own mind.

Well put it this way, yesterday all .uk.com's were down due to their
registrar's DNS, I am sure you have been following discussion on the
relevant ( alt.internet.providers.uk ) newsgroups regarding this and will
take heed.

To quote one relavant section of the debate:

"That's the problem with pseudo ccTLDs like uk.com - which are actually
selling sub domains of the 'uk.com' gTLD. You're reliant on your
registrar.

I'm surprised CentralNIC didn't become an ICANN accredited registrar to
manage their domains themselves, just like AOL has. Better than letting
another registrar make a mistake on your behalf, with no recourse."

Will welsh domains take similar precautions regarding gaining ICANN
accreditation, I do believe a bond of around £180,000 is needed though.

No, that is not true. You are telling me that there was greater demand in
Tuvalu for .tv or was the government offered millions by a Silicon Valley
start-up to enable the TLD created and control handed over? Likewise, if
there was no demand for .wales there would be a similarlaly low level of
demand for your pseudo domain of .wales.con . You need to decide what
'facts' to tell for promotional reasons, as either there is no demand or
there is :)

One last plug/spam, cant resist eh?

try www.mid-wales.net for your own second level domain such as
www.dogs.mid-wales.net or www.eom.mid-wales.net

one was one too many... and of course, if mid-wales.net has lookup
problems, contacting webm...@mid-wales.net isn't going to work !!

I don't believe .com is still widely associated with N America as it
is used globally, on a 'first come, first served' basis (and whilst a
teeny bit more costly, I think the problems with IPSTAGs mean I'd not
hesitate to ignore registering .*.uk nowadays)

>Likewise saying Wales is a non profit making organisation :)

Hardly precludes 'not for profit' organisations choosing such a name.

(I am not in favour of these, and think .uk.com etc are daft, but I
hesitate at sharing the reasoning over challenges, hence this post.)

Having a great interest in the subject it covers I was hoping
that I might be able to say that it is the dogs dangly bits,
sadly it is just a load of old "bo****ks.
