This is the moment a car went up in flames on a residential street in north
Manchester.

The footage, filmed by reader Annice Woolley, shows flames tearing through the
body of the abandoned vehicle, which was discovered after being set alight on
Culgaith Walk, [in Harpurhey](http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-
about/harpurhey) , on Saturday night (April 17).

Worried onlookers and neighbours reported the incident to the emergency
services.

Firefighters from Blackley station raced to the scene at around 10.45pm to
tackle the blaze, which had broken out close to a block of flats.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said crews were
called to deal with the incident on Saturday night.

He said: "At 10.45pm a crew from Blackley attended a vehicle fire near a block
of flats.

"There were several calls about this incident.

"Firefighters were not there for very long after managing to get the fire
under control quite quickly."
