[Manchester United](http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about
/manchester-united-fc) came away with the win on Saturday - but it was a far
from impressive performance from the Reds.

Louis van Gaal's side went into the game on the back of a positive display
against West Ham in the FA Cup, but the Dutchman's decision to rest a number
of players almost backfired as the Reds put on an uninspiring display against
Aston Villa.

Marcus Rashford was once again the hero with his seventh goal in 12
appearances and with Wayne Rooney getting some more minutes under his belt
there were some positives to take out of the match.

However the overwhelming feeling from United supporters was disappointment as
they observed another dull performance, this time against the Premier League's
bottom club.

**Here's some of the best reaction to the match on social media.**

### Louis lashed

**Matthew Houlston:** Terrible performance which shows exactly why LVG has to go and now! 1-0 against Villa??? Truly pathetic that United, be very ashamed. Can't even look good against worst team in the league....hand all this week's wages back because most of you def are not worth it!

> [@ManUtdMEN](https://twitter.com/ManUtdMEN) has been the story of LvG's time
at Utd. 1 good match followed by 6 games full of sleeping pills.

> [@ManUtdMEN](https://twitter.com/ManUtdMEN) typical of the
[#LVG](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LVG?src=hash) era, 1-0 against worst team
in the league and he will be delighted...

> Not a vintage game but the extra 3 points are welcomed. Standard LVG
football, was never gonna batter one of the worst PL teams in history.

### Nodding off!

> Rashford good, Memphis showing a bit of spark but otherwise garbage. Like a
testimonial.

> Which of these two teams has been relegated? Hard to tell judging by the
performance today

> Taking the ball into the corner to waste time at home to Aston Villa. How
entertaining!

### No, seriously

> Lad in front actually asleep in the second half and he had more fun than us
awake!

### There were some positives

**Dava Southward:** He took his goal well Rashford. The movement for the goal when he moved in and stepped back before finishing showed some mature finishing for a kid. And Depay showing in the 2nd half some good attack.
