struggling Birmingham side relegated for the first time since 1987 after
limping to just 16 points in 34 games.
Villa were, as was largely expected, second best for most of the game although
they did come close when Rudy Gestede's volley hit a post late on.

Chelsea is up **fourth** in the running order on tonight's flagship football
show.
The win sees the Blues closer to securing Champions League football next
season.
A Sergio Aguero hat-trick sealed the win with the dismissal of Thibaut
Courtois for a foul on Fernandinho the salt in the wound for the currently
mid-table north London side.

**First** up in the running order tonight is Norwich against Sunderland.
Sunderland, who are themselves in a relegation battle, secured a vital win
after thumping the Canaries in an excellent display at Carrow Road.
The loss was a devastating one for Norwich who are just ahead of Sunderland in
the table and are teetering precariously close to the danger zone.
Up **second** is Newcastle against Swansea.
The Magpies secured their first win under former Liverpool manager Rafael
Benitez and thus gave a vital boost to their chances of Premier League
survival.
Two points shy of their nearest rivals Sunderland however, their prospects
still look grim.
For Swansea, who are now safely in 15th, and with little to play for, it was a
poor result.
Up **fifth** in tonight's running order is West Bromwich Albion against
Watford.
A much needed win for Watford sees them move up into 12th with West Brom stuck
down in 14th. Both sides now look safe.
Up **last** on the show is Everton against Southampton.
The Saint's suffered a blow to their bid for a European place after the
Merseyside team held them to a draw at home.
Southampton remain just outside the top five and trail Manchester United and
West Ham.
