Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation after reports that
shots were fired in Ancoats.

Police attended the scene at Weybridge Road in New Islington at around 10.06pm
on Saturday evening.

Officers confirmed there was a discharge of a firearm, but no one was injured.
Police are now carrying out inquiries.

Unconfirmed witness reports claim that two shots were fired in the Saltford
Avenue, Weybridge Road area at some time between 8 and 10pm.

Police were still in attendance at the scene at 11pm on Saturday night and the
area where the shots were reportedly fired was cordoned off.

Officers at the scene confirmed that police were investigating an incident.

A GMP spokesman said: "Police attended an incident on Weybridge Road, Ancoats,
at around 22.06 on Saturday evening. There was a confirmed discharge of a
weapon. No one was injured. Police are now carrying out inquiries."
