I believe it was once in the old Bull Ring and then moved after the 60s/70s.
Where was the shop located before it closed ?
Anyone remember ?
Thank You

Thanks, I know it closed a long while ago.
My father-in-law knew the guy who owned it (he has since passed away)
But although I remember the shop (I was only young at the time) I can't
remember where it was or what it sold.
Was it a hardware shop ?
Thanks Brian
Yes, "Blades" was a hardware / ironmongers, I seem to recall it also used to
be
on the corner of Pasture Street and Victoria Street, {now an amusement
arcade}
opposite what was then Siddles tools shop, now Allenby Stevensons.
Their was another hardware/DIY shop at Riby Square called "Boltons"
and one down Freeman street called " ? " <-- HELP with the name PLEASE!
which looked just like the shop in the Two Ronnies "4 Candles" sketch.

Also Tates had a little shop up the alleyway at the side of Blades.

I think the Coporation Road Hardware shop was run by a Mr Gorbutt a
real helpful bloke with a hair lip.
Dollies Lollies :) are my Aunt & Uncle, Dolly & Bob,
they are both fit and well. but don't make 'goffers' or "specials" anymore.
Do you remember Ada's Ices (Dollies sister.)
Ticklers Jam factory in Sheepfold / Pasture Street area.

Dollys Ices .......
Ada's Ice's........
I used to live 'over the marsh'.
Went to Littlecoates school and I can just remember Dixons paper mill.
I lived down Watkin street - which is still there but the houses are long
since gone.
Bought by the council (compulsary puchase order - I think).
Can anyone remember the public baths near the old hospital ?
My dad used to take me there for a scrub - LOL.
Happy days eh ?
Cheers
minky
Sorry I'm not That old ! :)

No - I can't remember them.
I can barely remember the Bull Ring as it used to be.
That aside - can you remember the old underground passageway that used to
take you under the railway line near where Asda's is now ?
