I was BB, my Dad went to the match, in private box/room, he was only Lion's
supporter amongst the Gills peeps he was with... have to say he predicted
beforehand that we'd lose 4-0 so we didn't do too sad, lol. However, Pops
said it was a shambles... now that's saying something when we're playing
Gills!!! <hangs head in shame>

my head in a shameful manner to demonstrate the disgust of my favourite
football team losing to the only Kent Football team in the Football League."

I think you will find that Angling is the most popular sport. Football may
be the nation's favourite couch potato sport. I think it is like religion,
encouraged by the powers that be to distract poor people from their
miserable existence in the 20s and 30s. The fact that it has survived to
this day, still largely watched by the poorest members of society, is a
testament to man's gullibility. While outraged by bankers and estate agents
etc supporters are quite happy for a brain dead yob to be paid half a
million a week. But then the pull of "religion" is very strong, once your
team is "believed in" (supported) it is an act of faith that cannot be
denied easily. If you notice even the players themselves behave like gods.
After scoring a goal they run round the field like a demented wasp with
their arms outstretched in the sign of the cross, finally kneeling down in
front of their adoring believers for them to pay homage.

I think you'll find as a Millwall supporter I don't take it too seriously,
it's a family thing.... I was brought up to support 'em. However, we're a
crap team and we know we are! lol. I don't waste my Saturday afternoons
watching football. I hate the same sort of thing... one goal and they think
they're god, although I have to say this is usually the Premier League type
of thing... when a Millwall player scores, they drop to their knees in shock
usually! lol.
I'd much rather be on a brisk walk, enjoying the countryside and then a
glass of wine on a Saturday afternoon, which is what I tend to do. Work??
On a Saturday....never had the need or desire to. In fact, I'd go as far to
say I'd rather go watch Gills play.... (and that's saying something!) ;-)

Reading this one again BB made me smile, I smiled even moreso when Millwall
drew with Charlton the weekend.... it was a tense afternoon in our
household, with my partner being a Charlton supporter (and his family).
Wind up texts were bounced back and forth between goals and fake
commiserations given after each one. I was dreading this match and so happy
to see a good match with lots of goals and a good result for Millwall.
The smile however faded somewhat when I saw the Gills result...... lol, just
kidding! ;-)
