Everything addressed to me by total strangers seems to have an
inappropriate "your" in it. ("Part of your five-a-day" for example).
There are two examples on the cover of /Hertfordshire horizons/; the
subtitle is "your news from Hertfordshire County Council". Isn't it
_their_ news? (And only that by interpreting "news" rather broadly.)
But sillier yet is

Being born 40 years after it begun, I surely have none. I'd love to
know how many Hertfordshire residents do have memories of something that
ended 96 years ago.

Also, am I alone in find the all this commemorating in rather poor
taste? If the powers that be wish to commemorate war, let them do so by
ending the ones now in progress and undertaking not to start any new
ones. No? I thought not.

A marked contrast to `Hertfordshire's Year of Cycling' further down the
front cover---very much aimed at some unspecified `them' and not an
inclusive `you'. OTOH, it's probably for the best after they've spent
the past 60 years (and counting) making conditions as hostile as
possible for cycling on their roads...

Whitehall has sent them a load of cash to do this `commemorating'. You
didn't think they were doing it on their own initiative, did you?

Notice how the back cover also seeks to transfer responsibility for
policing to the public: `we can all be proud of what has been achieved',
`Playing Your Part', `Everybody's Business', etc. No mention of giving
us back a third of our council tax and just letting us get on with it,
of course!
