do they do that? - I set out to describe how man’s curiosity to
discover how these often tiny creatures fly around in darkness and catch
their prey! Covering how man’s challenges to develop ‘stealth’
technologies also led us to unravel some of the bat’s secrets.
A lot of work in this field has taken place in Hampshire.

Tuesday 21 January 2020 Dr Robin Wilson : Monitoring the environment
from space
Hundreds of satellites orbit the Earth every day, collecting data that
is used for monitoring almost all aspects of the environment. This talk
will introduce to you the world of satellite imaging, take you beyond
the ‘pretty pictures’ to the scientific data behind them, and show you
how the data can be applied to monitor plant growth, air pollution and more.
