Having lived both in Scotland and Northrn England I've been a regular
listener and caller to various local radio phone ins where callers
contribute about various topical discussions. This is not an
exhaustive list of presenters by any means but the ones which I know
the most and wondered what anybody else thinks of them presenters - or
any others? Heres my views on some of them.

Scottie McClue
In his earlier days he was a good laugh, but you could talk to him
about various matters, often in a serious but humourous way, and a
good talker and debator when the call has a serious tone. He held
very patriarchal views too, although I think a lot of this was just a
wind up. However, in his latter days he became more repetitive and
tiresome. I've heard him on various stations both sides of the border
(Scot FM, Magic 1548, Century 105) and that he has now left QFM.

Wee fat Bob
Had a bit of a roller coaster of a life story from being homeless to
coming up the social ladder. His first time round on the night time
slot on Scot FM but he went on to the day slot for a time then came
back on night time. Since then he just degenerated into the same old
tabloid fashion as the rest. He was never the brightest tool in the
box and attracted certain radio trolls (mad J, mad B and 1 or 2
others). However, he sometimes held interesting topics. He has also
done some extensive charity work of various sorts.

Terry McGeadie
Replaced wee fat Bob in the night time for a while a few years back.
I think this was when Scot FM started to go downhill. Terry was imho
an obnoxious arragont tosser who would cut people off without really
giving them a chance to converse properly, although in fairness most
of them were completely brain dead. He always complained about his
programme being infiltrated with morons despite attracting them with
his cocky attitude. According to some, he was trying to do a 2nd rate
impersination of McClue. Would never waste 2 bob phoning his show.

Does anybody know whats become of these 3 presenters. If so, can they
let me know?

Pete Price
Very localised phone in based on City FM in Liverpool. An
entertaining programme mostly. Pete seems to try to give the
programme a serious tone, but it is usually stupid kids winding him up
most weeks. I get the impression that he is pretty right wing and
authoritarian and, he tends to use his show as a soapbox (don't they
all) and shouts people down who disagree with him. He is actively
involved in the pressure campaign to see that the two little bastards
who killed little James Bulger get punished properly for their crime,
which seems to be a losing battle against the do gooders, although
some critics reckon that he is doing it for his own publicity.
Despite his attempts as a serious show, most weeks it sounds like a
comedy with all the silly wind up merchants.

James Stannage
BABY is what he calls everybody as his catchphrase on Key 103 in
Manchester. As far as I'm concerned he is the among the best of the
radio talk show hosts. He sounds like he knows what he is talking
about most of the time, but he comes in for a lot of criticism because
he shouts at a lot of his callers, who lets face it many of them are
of very low intellect. However, he rarely cuts them off unreasonablly
without debating first. He holds extreme political views and
expresses strong scepticism towards both religion and capitalism. He
also holds some radical views which many would class as a breach of
human rights (such as compulsory temproary sterilisation), but I've
yet to hear any better views on solving the many of the problems that
blight our society.

Derek Hatton
Former political leader in Liverpool who was at the centre of a storm
in the mid '80's. He appeared on his own radio daytime show on
century 105. Still holds strong opinions on various issues. He left
century in 1999 and went on to talksport (formerly talk radio) whereby
he ran a morning programme. He has now returned to Century. He's a
pretty strong communicator, but tends to cut those off who get the
better in an arguement with him.

Mike Dickin
His health is not in question, but the brainpower of his listeners may
be methinks (anyone who has read the talksport bullitin board will
know what I'm talking about). He claims to be a defender of the
underdog, a rare, dying breed. Whether it may be dumb laws, bent
coppers, lawyers, politicians, corporations, crime, immigration
crisis, customs and excise, rip off merchants - you name it, he's
covered the lot! He tends to complain about a number of issues without
suggesting any real solutions, if you try to phone up the show with a
conflicting view, the odds of your of getting on the programme are not
very high! Many of his listners (or e-mails to the stations message
board) tend to be towards the right wing (and of low IQ's) but his
show is rarely boring. He used to do the early hours but eventually
took over Derek Hatton's slot on Talksport.

Just a few of the talk show hosts to mention. What do youse think?
Geez a buzz on them or any other presenter - the number is...........
with the wizard of the big switchboard signing for the daft!

DINKY DOO!!!

AH!! glad to hear from a fellow loony!! I was a teenager when that was all
happening. It was some laugh his show when we went on it. I remember a time
when he banned all the headbangers for a while and if it wasnt for the
pensioners phoning him and demanding that we get back on he wouldnt have had
a loony nite again.

As for Mike Dickin on TalkSport, he will never have a proper debate cos HE
IS IN THE RIGHT AND IN THE KNOW COS HE SAYS SO. Its a mouthpiece for his
views and he is clearly not interested in what others may think. When he was
on late at night I remember he had a shit catchphrase ' Stop the world, I
wanna get off'

A former bass player/rugby player.. what hell would he know about anything?

Sounds like I missed the days when McClue was at his best. I first
heard him on xmas eve 1996 when he was on the daytime slot. I first
heard wee daft Bob the night before. McClue seemed to tone down every
time he moved station. I heard him on magic 1548 in Liverpool and QFM
a few times but mostly when he was on Century 105. Never heard him on
his night time slot on Scot FM. I've spoke to him a couple of times
too. Was it true that he used to slag the English a lot when he was
on Scot FM? When he was on magic 1548 he used to take the piss out of
the scousers. DINKY DOO :)

Dickin aint the best, his attitude is that he is always right and the caller
is always wrong or irrelevant.

Mclue ( real name Colin Lamont ) Was superb during the years 1994 -1995 when
almost a quarter of central Scotland would try to get through to him. But it
was the Looneys like me that gave him a name, with our pointless debates,
stupid nicknames.. etc

Naw man - I'd have to give that award to Terry McGeadie - a right
ignorant numpty he was. Pete Price (City FM, Liverpool) not far
behind though.

You think Yahoo chat is bad, have you been on the Talksport message
board during Dickin's programme? It's full of BNP types who blame all
the street crime on blacks, Asians and asylum seekers which I pointed
out to "snide arse" synapse who said that Scots were to blame for
street crime.

On the other hand however, I remember a year ago or so, Dickin was
ranting about being hassled by beggars hanging around cash withdrawal
machines in London who, according to Dickin were SCOTTISH alckies!

> --
> ' In front of the loudspeaker, everyone is equal'>

When Terry McGeadie was BEHIND the loudspeaker he thought he was
SUPERIOR!!
I remember him saying one night that mentally ill people should all be
locked up. A wee bit ironic as he said this during a conversation
with a psychiatrist, who should of diagnosed Terry as psychotic due to
delusions of his own importance!
BTW, is he still on the radio? Anyone know?

I phoned McGeadie up when he stood in for McClue on Scot FM.. his special
guest was the Willfrid Bramble lookalike Bill McMurdo the soccer agent....

McMurdo was spouting all sorts such as that we should be thankful that his '
tory friends closed down the pits..' etc etc

I heard myself talking to him as we taped it, and 8 years later, it seems my
balls did not drop until i was about 18 cos I was 17 when I called him and
my voice was very squeaky

He's better than Tommy Boyd or Charlie Wolf - typical right wing
facist middle American tosser. Good riddance!

I remember one night when Boyd did a piss take of John Lennon's
'imagine',
whereby Boyd changed the lyrics to "imagine there's no Scotland".
Conceited pleb.

Some reckon that Derek Hatton's getting on the radio was helped by his
political notoriety but having said that he's turned out to be an ok
presenter.

watching him on Wide Awake Club when we were kids and that if he still had
his perm. However DJ Boyd took offence and got angry ' THAT WAS NOT A

Terry McGeadie had a tendancy to cut the younger kids off without
giving them a chance although as often as not, they would take the
piss out of him, but he would ask for it!

When Scottie came on QFM, I phoned him up (just b4 xmas 2000),
pretending that I was calling from Liverpool and speaking in a fake
scouse accent! He fell for it too ;)

I used to listen to the phone-in on TFM here in Teesside (Bilsdale
transmitter) and they had McClue in as host about 1997. I couldn't stand
him, he seemed so patronising, but perhaps he was different elsewhere. He
only hosted it for a few weeks between regular, long-time hosts from the
region.
