I spent most of the day setting up a friend's computer to go online with
BTAnytime (btopenworld) but don't think I got the right settings for
Outlook Express because it won't connect directly (Error, unable to
connect... etc), but will if already online. I just want to click on OE and
get a dial-up connection. At the moment I have to go online first with IE,
then fire up OE.
Any help appreciated.
TIA

Both POP3 and SMTP settings are [mail.btinternet.com]
In OE go tools/accounts/mail/add/add mail and create an account using the
above settings and the user name and password. If one already exists delete
it and start again, this often cures the problem.

If you want OE to dial up BTOpenworld go to tools/accounts/mail/properties
and on the connection tab click on [always use....] and select which dun you
require.

Thanks Rae. I think that's how I set it up anyway, but tomorrow I'll try
your suggestion of deleting the existing account and starting again.

There is another option to try as well.
Right click on Internet Explorer icon on the desktop
Go to Connections and highlight BtOpenworld DUN
Then set this as [default] and put a spot in the radio button for "always
dial my default connection". I had to rack my brains here because since I
got CM I don't use dial ups.

Right folks, the PC-Help clinic is now closing, I am cream-crackered and off
to my pit. In a fit of "I need some exercise today" I walked from Fulbourn
to Cambridge City centre. Not a good idea, I need some new feet :-((

In Outlook Express click on Tools then account

Click on the mail tab. Double click on the default Account then click on
the connection tab. If there is a tick in the check box, take it out to use
IE settings or leave it in and select a dial-up to use.
