Used to go there (Magic City) a couple of years ago.. Nice place to be honest. Now
you've said there are some 'well-'ard kids'... Are those the ones with
baseball caps and er.... 'bitches'? ;)

Try the Kings Head in Magdalen St. - the regulars might look as if they
bite, but they don't. There is only one table though.
Spitfire is on ATM.

There are a couple of good tables in Chicago's.

He didn't specify 'good pub'.
Good pool table, yes.

They knocked the Bell down and erected a charade of pops.

In response to the Magdelen Street pub recommendation, a receptionist
at an estate agents told me she wouldn't feel comfortable walking down
Magdelen Street late at night. Any comments about that, anyone?
Looked like an alright area to me, but then I only drove over it on
the ring road.

I wouldn't... I'm sure plenty would , though!
hey..
there is a problem with pool tables in city center pubs...police don't
like em..and to be honest..neither do bar staff at the weekend...
When i used to work behind the bar at the compleat angler (2000 -
2002) we had just had our (sort of pool table) removed. Squares had
one..then promply got rid of it..their just not worth the effort in
some places.. because drunk people. pool queues and the balls
themselves do not mix well to say the least...
of places i can think of that DO have them.. The Mischief...and thats
it.. and even that place closes off its pool table when there is
sporting/partys it seems..
Hope this sort of helps...

The Pottergate Tavern (on Pottergate) and the Horse & Dray (on Ber Street)
both have tables AFAIK, and are both good pubs.

The Kings Head is nearer the other end. Most of the reported muggings
seem to take place in the more populous and well-lit areas such as
Prince of Wales Road.

Worrabout the Ferry Boat?
North
The Stanley on Magdalen Road (bit along from the Artichoke) has one pool
table and used to have a couple of nights of free pool during the week -
although I believe they've changed hands and don't know if they still do
this.
Elm Tavern or the Whale Bone on Magdalen Road towards constitution hill end
can't remember which ones is which.
The Werry on Lawson Road/Sprowston Road.
Denmark Arms has one, although I've not been in there.
Kings Head, Cat and Fiddle both on Magdalen Street.
East
The Jubilee on St Leonards Road again has 2 and upstairs with quite a bit of
room. Although when I was last in there the surfaces of the tables were not
exactly flat - added challenge. Don't know how they are now.
The Bridge House on Rosary Road has one (I'd have said it was on Riverside
Road myself, but listed as Rosary Road).
West
The Mitre on Earlham Road has 1/2, no that's not half :-).
Duke of Connaught on Livingstone street has one (used to live opposite this
pub). This is just off Dereham road not far from the Artful Dodger.
Central (within inner ringroad)
The Mischief on Fye Bridge Street. Used to have one downstairs although I'm
reliably informed it has 2 out back now.
The Hog In Armour on Charing Cross (between St Benedicts and St Andrews) has
2 upstairs (this one's my fav as you have plenty of space around the
tables).
Pottergate on Pottergate - well where else would it be? (not far from the
Hog either if there tables are busy).
Iron Mongers on St John Maddermarket (just along from the pottergate).
Hogs Head On Queen Street (near bank plain).
Edith Cavel has one, believe it or not - not exactly the biggest pub in
Norwich.
Red Lion on St George's Street has one.
White Lion on Oak Street.
Sorry haven't been south of the city much.

Long and thin.
It's got a wee front bar, and then IIRC a games room, with pool table,
then a bar with a stage in it (used at weekends, I got the impression),
then the terrace next to the river, with outside pool table (!).
Small tellies showing sport in the fron bar, IIRC.
Bored yooves gather on the other side of the river to smoke fags and
smash glass bottles.
But it seemed quite alright. Give it a go: one man's Fat Cat is
another's Norwegian Blue, you might say.

Yeah, I cycled past there today. Seems a lazy, sleepy, mellow part of
Norwich. Nice. Oh god, I'm getting old...

A biker's wife recommended this one to me today.

Personally, I find I *can't* play unless I've had a couple of pints.
It's a delicate equilibrium.
Thanks for suggestions
