So what happened to the huge storms and gales we were promised over the
weekend? This is getting to be more and more the pattern, we cancel
things because we are told that it's going to be wet and windy, and
then the sun shines instead.

It was quite wet and windy at times here, particularly Saturday morning
and Sunday afternoon but certainly not gale force.

*We* had a good gale last week - twigs and leaves everywhere one morning
not so many days ago.

Weather has been pretty much as predicted for the region.

To err is human. To really foul things up requires a computer and the BOFH.

You must have seen more sedate predictions for the weekend than we did!
Maybe you're in a different part of East Anglia, from Diss.

That's a foreign country up there! Today, we had a hailstorm, and then
sun. But the weekend was not the wild weather that we had been told to
expect. Oh well.

The Burston Crown is our favourite place for Sunday Lunch, so we do
venture into those parts sometimes.

I can recommend the King's Head in Ashwellthorpe. The Greyhound in
Tibenham has a decent carvery on a Sunday - or did, last time I was
there. Good beer too.

The weekend was pretty mild and so I put off finishing a fence which was
going to be at least a three hour job, but I drove down into Essex from
Cambridge on Monday and drove through torrential windy rain on and off
through the day.

This is the UK; must be a horrendous job being a forecaster...

It's pretty much a gale here in Dreux (not East Anglia).

Indeed. We lost our 'lectric 0700 Monday, returned 1815 yesterday. The
last 20 odd houses in the road still have no 'lectric and many more
across the region are in the same boat.

I found a pantile in my front garden, and it wasn't frommy roof. Next
two properties upwind haven't panties^h^h^pantiles, and I can't see any
missing from neighbours' houselids

My garden, next door's, and next door but one's are carpeted with poplar
leaves. Oh, and next door but two, I'm informed.
