A little bit wrong at times: I've found 3 ships supposedly at the North Pole
which are in fact elsewhere.

Also, numbered dots are bouys.

The map on that one doesn't work for me, but yes, it's a good site.

I've been finding interesting ships on sailwx, googling the ship name/callsign,
and following the marinetraffic link to check info.

From sailwx, I got 3 years of location data [1] on the Greenpeace ice-breaker
"Arctic Sunrise", and tried to work out what they'd been up to (ie how much time
and effort had they put into trying to smash up the Arctic ice? Not so much, it
turns out - so far as I can see).

They have a very strange position-reporting policy: they'll report hourly when
in port, and stop reporting when they're at sea. The purpose of position
reporting is collision-avoidance and environmental protection (Arctic Sunrise
carries thousands of gallons of fuel) - so their actions seem irresponsible.

[1] I can post what I've worked out - if anyone's interested.
