Tory MP Bob Stewart urged the government to issue a
robust response to dealing with extremists

Foreign-born preachers of hate should be put on the
first plane back in the wake of the Woolwich atrocity, a
senior Tory MP said yesterday.

Bob Stewart, a former Army colonel, said the time had
come to tear up human rights laws and deport extremists
deemed to be a threat to the public.

In a passionate outburst, Colonel Stewart described the
Woolwich attack as depraved and disgusting and called
for action against those who advocate violence in the
name of Islam.

He said Labours Human Rights Act, which enshrines the
European Convention on Human Rights, should be scrapped
immediately to allow the authorities to take tougher
action against terror suspects and those who encourage
them.

Colonel Stewart called on Home Secretary Theresa May to
begin the process immediately by deporting hate preacher
Abu Qatada to his native Jordan, where he faces terrorism
charges.

He said the security services should go through the
estimated 3,000 terror suspects they are monitoring and
take immediate action against any deemed to be a threat.

Colonel Stewart, a former commander of UN forces in
Bosnia during the Balkans conflict, added: It may not be
as democratic as libertarians would like but, I am sorry,
we are fighting a war.

Well, one of the killers came from London. Personally I would want
him sent to prison rather than be sent home, but kudos to you for
being such a forgiving soul.

I think the people of Iraq & Afghanistan would like to deport the thousands
of uniformed foreign extremists who we sent to invade and occupy their
countries.

Perhaps an exchange programme could be arranged?

One of the "extremists" - the one on the ITV clip - was much less
extreme than this Army colonel. In the video he said:

." Tell them to bring our troops back so can all live in peace. So
leave our lands and we can all live in peace."

Elsewhere, the Mail describes the killers outburst as a "rant".

So the spin is at work ... the good guy has an "emotional outburst"
and the bad guy does a "rant".
