I am trying to get more members into the club and wish to place some
entertainment adverts around our village to try and attract interest
and new members wanting to become part of the club, I have been told
that I am unable to do this as it is a rule of the constitution of all
private members clubs across the country that you cannot advertise
outside the clubs walls.
Surely the clubs constitution can be ammended or altered someway if
indeed this is the case
I am sceptical about this and looking for any advice.

The point is probably that you shouldn't advertise events or facilities to
non-members, but I can't see why you should not advertise for new members,
unless the club's constitution says anything to the contrary.
Chris R.
"One thing to get straight there is nothing illegal in a club using
public media to reach its own members, to tell them about events at the
club. If you know most of your members live locally, you can advertise
to them, as long as the copy points out that admission is for members
and guests only."
Thanks for your advice guys.
I am waiting to see a copy of the club's constitution to see if
anything is written in regard to advertising. I think that some of the
older members just don't want change but in this day and age with
dwindling funds i believe you have to move with the times.
I believe that the constitution can be ammended by its members if need
be.
Thanks
