I had a call from a recruiter and after 3 minutes of our conversation
he stopped to talk suddenly, said something like "aaagh..." and then I
heard 3 beeps in the phone and the call was finished.
It's the SECOND(!) time that something like that happened to me in the
UK, so I have a questions:
1. Is it normal in the UK to broke phone conversation like this? In my
country it is extremely rude, and you have to say something like eg.:
excuse me, I have a car accident at the moment and have to finish :)
2. Is it possible that recruiters have timers in their phones, that
break connection after eg. 3 minutes to limit phone bills?
3. Could it be something wrong with my cell phone? I have O2
pay-as-you-go.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks
Martin
Hi Martin,
Maybe they need 3 min to found out that you are not a women ;)But
seriously it's you who is looking for a job so they don't have to be
nice and well-mannered...Sad but true.

It is abnormal even for a recruitment agency. They will normally
have a stock phrase to finish off the conversation nicely.

What?

Not likely.

Whatever it is you're saying to put them off then stop saying
it.

Three beeps normally means your call has been disconnected. If they are
on a mobile then it could be a flat battery or going out of signal range.
Or you could be moving out of singal range.
If you use a mobile a lot - you get used to it. Just redial - if it
wasn't a 'unknown number' or wait for them to call you.

Might've had a heart attack or crashed the car, or both.
Agents aren't the best people to deal with, unfortunately, most jobs go
through them.
