I have not exactly been seeking jobs for very long, in fact I am quite new
to the game, and "game" is what it really does appear to be! I am over 50.
The last time I sought a job was in 1994, and I am STILL awaiting response
from several interviews.
Over the past couple of months I have applied for several jobs, for which I
am probably a little over-qualified, but after the initial acknowledgement I
receive nothing. Not a sausage!
Is it customary these days for employers, actively seeking staff, to simply
not bother to inform other applicants that they were rejected? Perhaps I am
a little old-fashioned, but I rather thought it was simple courtesy. If
someone writes to me, at my request, then I rather feel I have a duty to
reply.

No you are right. Toady people that work (if that is what it is called).
Do not know the basic customer service training. Basic compassion is all
that is needed, but because no proper training is given and a minimum wage
paid why somebody give a shit. So XXX people are working all under paid, in
no prospects jobs and that is why the government is saying the lowest
unemployment ever. Bollocks, in that case why are we having to import
people from other countries to do jobs that the unemployed in the UK could
be trained to do. Also pay decent wages and the next time you want service
you get it.
