Hi, just curious to know whether this one works or not. I am sure I could
learn those IT skills by going through those courses (I worked as a
programmer for 3 years), but is it really true that their "job guarantee"
works (meaning everyone gets a job)? Namely I would gladly pay that course
fee if I got a IT job.

Anyone knows about these things (there are other similar companies offering
similar courses)? Do they work (for every student)? If not, why? Is there a
danger that you pay that course fee £6000-£7000 and do not get a (at least
year long) job and so you are in big debts? If there is this kind of danger,
definitely I cannot take that risk. They promise to put you in one of their
companies,,, but how long is that contract? Can it be only one month!?

I would rather be a IT worker than a warehouse person...

There's no such thing as a guaranteed job. The company has been around since
1999 (according to Companies House), so they must be doing something right.
However, don't be disillusioned into thinking that you are guaranteed a job
at the end of the training. You are only as succesful as you make yourself.
You have to be able to promote yourself and not rely on any company to
guarantee you a job.

Regards,

Prashant.

The point is, that I cannot take a loan, if the job is not 100% surely
guaranteed for at least one year ... so it seems to me, that that is not the
case. It is foolish to take a 6000 pound loan and *hope* that after that you
get a job. How do you pay it back, if you do not get a good job? I would
never go to that ...

But if you are *guaranteed* one year good salary job, then 6000 is not a
problem I think.

You might be right. Why do they then misslead people like this with their
adverticements?

Sorry for the delay in answering, completely forgot that you had posted a
response to my reply. I can't answer your question to be honest. However, if
you do want to further your career, and are prepared to take out financial
commitment, I would suggest looking for a course that is based on the Career
Development Loan that is more reasonable than some companies that are
offering loans..etc. Have a look at the following site about CDL's.

http://www.lifelonglearning.co.uk/cdl/learn.htm

There are many training providers that offer training courses. None of them
guarantee you a job at the end of it, but at least they offer some training
for your money. I went to a company called The Training Camp. It's hard
work, but worth the money. I don't work for them, but you may want to look
at their website

www.trainingcamp.co.uk

Some people will knock them, some will say good things about them. I'll let
you decide what you think of them. If you are prepared to make the financial
commitment and are prepared to put in the hours (e.g. from 8am to about 1am
in the morning minus lunch, dinner and the rare breaks), then go with a
company like the training camp who can give you some exposure. Remember, no
company can offer you a guaranteed job. Saying that though, there is a
recruitment agency in Bristol, whose name escapes me right now, that will
train you up (providing you take out a CDL) and will get you some work,
providing you pass some final interviews at the end of the training session.
I wish I could remember the name of the agency....

Juha,

I hope things do work out for you. However, there is no magic cure after
taking on some training. If a company says it can guarantee you a job, give
them a call and ask them about their success rate. Also have a look at the
following recruitment agency (managed to find it from the millions of emails
I have stored on my system!!).

http://www.fdmgroup.com

I'm not saying that they are good or bad, but they are established for quite
some time and have a stable business model.

Regards,

Prashant.
