Another friend's funeral yesterday.

Ian Pigg was a large man, and though he would have mocked me for resorting
to puns he would also have chuckled when I said that he was larger than
life. It was true.

In whatever area he became involved he made an impression: at university
where I first met him and in the National Union of Students; in the Liberal
Democrat party; on Hackney Council; in the voluntary sector where he worked
most recently for SCOPE.

Those who met Ian, however briefly, did not forget him. He chose to take
his own life which is a great grief to many, for he was much loved.

Any who met or knew Ian might like to attend a memorial service for him
which will be held in London toward the end of this month.

This comes as a shock to me. Though I haven't heard his name for some
years, I was thinking about Ian just the other day. He was so self-
assured, especially when it came to politics, that I really thought the
next time I might hear of him was when he got elected an MP. I am sad
that he will now never reappear in my life.

He was my first boyfriend.

We remained friends after the relationship ended. Although we lost touch
after he graduated, I have always remembered him with great affection.
And I always will.

/Jon, very sad
