Look's like finally EA will go Live, shame cos they are mostly crap
games anyway!
It's good news for Burnout fans though.
And Microsoft mostly make business software. Who cares as long as they
publish good games every now and then?

Isn't this the same news IGN had at the beginning of the week.
EA to go live ?
and I stress the question mark.
It will be good to see, but this discussion has been going on for ages.

If this means the next Burnout will be Live enabled then it's
great. Apart from that though I really couldn't care less.

Look guys it doesn't say Electronic Arts to go Live !, it says
Electronic Arts to go Live ?, which is the same as its been since November
2002 when LIVE went LIVE !
here's hoping though !

Until they close the servers for that to force you to buy the next yearly
update.

That wouldn't happen would it? The servers are Microsoft as it is a
centralized service.

That's what EA has been pushing for.

I was speaking to a Microsoft Beta tester the other day and he confirmed the
following info:-
EA & MS had sorted out the problems (as mentioned above)
PGR2 will be getting it's first downloads (of 2 cars & 2 tracks) in the
first week of Feb. 2 out of the 4 things will be premium content, the other
2 free. Seems like the cars are probably a new Dodge & Chrysler as reported
on the web from some american car show a couple of weeks ago.
He had played (single player) Halo 2 which the single player game is already
finished but they are sorting out all the bugs for Live. Probably miss the
April date that has been quoted for definate. He said that Halo is
everything you would hope it would be & more!!
He had played an early beta before xmas of Ninja Gaiden which he said is
absolutely stunning. The new Live feature that is rumoured to be in the game
is that it will detect which location you are playing from and match the
time of day & weather condions in the game accordingly. This has not been
confirmed yet though.
2 footy games are in production. One is definately Pro Evo on Live from
Konami (Yeah!!) and the other is being done by Sega (I assume Virtua
Striker??).
Hope you all find this interesting!!

Pro Evo is by far the best news. If it's true.
It is. I've been assured!

There are some dedicated "xservers" for wolfie and CS, which handle 8 vs 8,
but agreed that unless they do some redesigning, 1942 could be a bit empty.

Or have X Servers like RS6 or UT. It would be perfectly feasible to
stick a few 32 or 64 player servers on the MS backbone.

I doubt they will charge for servers. I think if they do it will be a
flop and probably fuck EA up for future releases.

I haven't checked RTCW for a while, too busy playing PGR2 and R6, but I
have definately seen them recently on CS. I imagine its a combination of MS
and friendly gamers with 2 xboxes, putting them on LIVE.
With 1942, they wouldn't have a choice, other than to add xservers (unless
the game was redesigned for 4vs4). Maybe this is why EA is possibly coming
round to the idea of LIVE, that they add their own xservers, and charge an
additional subscription (after a certain amount of time), as they intended
to do for PS2 EA games.
However until EA change their "nothing agreed, and nothing happening in the
near future" stance on LIVE, then this is all conjecture anyway.
MS put them on their internal backbone, Ubi run some for R6, plus a
few others have their own machines running in service mode when they
are out. Sometimes I do.

I hope not. I expect that they won't charge for 1942 and use it as a
test & loss leader. Having it as a charge game won't do them any
favours. I don't see that many PSO players anymore so it may be a
little premature for pay servers.
