I so hope this is true, and that it NEVER gets released on the PC. I would
just CRACK up at all the Linux loving, MS hating tossers - Slashdot will be
home to some of the most rabid rants that the geek world will have ever
seen.
It will be funny, as I imagine that they will have all been saying things
like 'the Xbox doesnt have enough high quality exclusives - its going to
fail if they dont get more exclusives'. And now that their most eagerly
awaited game EVER is going to be released solely on the Xbox, they wont know
what to say or do.
Do they get an Xbox so they can play Half Life 2? Or do they go without?

It makes me teary-eyed just thinking about it. Slashdot Xbox threads are
truely the finest source of comedy known to man.

Neither, most of them have already bought one, modded it and installed linux
on it already.

pretend for a moment you weren't an xbox fanboy, do you really hope possibly
the best game of all time doesn't get released on the machine that would
really do it justice? just so you can laugh at "nerds"?

Did you read my post? I said 'I so hope this is true, and that it NEVER
gets released on the PC'.

Xbox fanboy?!? Pur-lease!
Currently setup in my room I have this PC, a Gamecube, an Atari Jaguar, an
A1200 in a tower case, a Dreamcast, an N64 and finally the Xbox. Tucked
away in drawers, I have my Sega Saturn, SNES and Mega Drive.
The very notion that I am an Xbox fanboy is ridiculous.

i hope this is true that the xbox self destructs after 2 years and an
inflatable bill gates doll pops out!

I didnt make a rumour up at all. The rumour so far is that Half Life 2 is
coming out as a console exclusive to the Xbox, as well as being released on
the PC.
I merely said that I hoped that is was ONLY coming out for the Xbox - I
didnt state it as any sort of fact, or possibility.

How lovely for you. However, I can see that you are not stating it as any
sort of fact or possibility.

Ok, so which part of my post makes me an Xbox fanboy? Is it the part about
owning lots of different systems?

look if what you mean is that you worded it badly just say so and stop
digging.

"I so hope this is true" that implies the "this" to which you refer is the
article which was just posted.

i have no interest in what consoles/computers you own as the post was very
biased towards the xbox and gave no indication of your 'imense' collection
of computer paraphanalia.

good night, mate.

Lets look at the original quote again and break it down for you to
understand eh?

'I so hope this is true' - meaning that it is true that it is an Xbox
console exclusive 'and' - AND, you saw that yes? That breaks up the
reference to the article from the next part, 'that it NEVER gets released
on the PC.'. That last bit was Mike's own addition without making reference
to anything said in the article.

Mike made a tongue-in-cheek reply about how ironic it would be IF Half-Life
2 WAS released ONLY on the Xbox because of the MS haters how are so
desperately waiting for the game. If anything he was having a go at
fan-boys of a different nature.

You accuse Mike of not reading the article properly yet seem unable to read
Mike's own post properly yourself.....

Heh!
You would be surprised at how much the Amiga scene is still going. Due to
it being such a small market, everything is rather expensive (the tower case
cost m £120) and the hardware is also very slow compared to modern PC's. I
havent yet gone beyond putting my Amiga in a towercase, as I keep buying
other stuff...
Have a look at www.powerc.com for Amiga stuff...

I love my X-Box and I love Halflife. But I would not buy it for the box
unless it comes with a mouse. As dated as my PC is [1] it will remain my
platform of choice for 1st person shooters.

You might be able to, but I dont really know how you would do it. The Amiga
and PC have vastly different file systems.

It is a spankingly good game, yes. It looks surprisingly nice with an RGB
cable.

errr why not just get yourself a chip for your xbox (with a switch) & get
UAE-X (0.6 is the latest)

if its just games you want downloaded of the net, this is great - been
playing sensi & ko2 today as it happens, so much better than on a monitor,
just wish i could use the sticks instead of the pad!.
plays everything i tried full speed.

You missed out, mate. The Amiga was *the* best computer of it's time.

I guess Mike must have done that himself coz, AFAIK, commodore didn't
release a tower A1200.

(In fact, i don't think they released a tower...anything <g>)

PMFBI, but from memory the Amiga had a PD program that could format,
read, and write to PC floppies didn't it? Damned if I can remember the
name though.

Alternatively, stick a modem on the miggy and download?

Sorry to have butted in, but you shouldn't have started talking about

It was the saddest day of my life when my miggy died and i decided I

Try playing the current FPS's on a 650Mhz Celeron with a TNT card :)

I know what you mean about playing them with a mouse, but I can't
warrant buying a new PC when it does everything else i want *apart*
from play decent games. that's one of the reasons i bought my xbox.

I'm having to get used to the vagaries of pads for FPS games.....

One program/application to do it, or alternatively, one device driver
thingy. Can't remember the names of either of them tho'.

However, this was only for 720Kb (double density) PC disks. You needed a
hacked drive to do regular 1440Kb (high density) PC disks.

I agree, and I am sad that I never had one when it was really popular. I
acquired an A500 about 5 years ago, and had great fun on it - I went and
bought Settlers (which is great), and got totally addicted to Sid Mieirs
Civilisation.
