Lovely graphics and such but it just doesn't do anything for me
whatsoever... Damn wish I hadn't pre-ordered the thing now.. Back on the
shelf with the other titles I hate
SSX, Star-Wars, F12001..... Back to playing Onimusha and ATV !!!

BURN HIM!!! ;-) I'm loving it at the moment. The control just feels so
right. A much better game than the awful, awful GT2.
> Back on
> the shelf with the other titles I hate

I was going to buy Star Wars Starfighter. It was pretty high on my "games
to buy" list. Then I played a demo. Now it's on the "games to buy if I see
them very cheap" list. Good thing, too. I only got my PS2 a couple of days
ago, because there are finally enough games out for it that I want. Trouble
is, now there are a fair few games that I want but can't afford and more
coming soon. Klonoa 2 is shipping tomorrow and that's a must buy. Loved the
demo. First game since the original Tomb Raider to give me a real feeling
of vertigo.
I have no interest at all in Onimusha. From what I've seen, it's too much
like the Resident Evil games, which I don't much like. ATV is quite high on
my wanted list, but I doubt I'll be buying another racing game for a while.
Just wish PS2 games weren't so expensive. Been spoiled by the prices of DC
games lately. The only PS2 game I'm remotely interested in that's less than
$50 is Kessen, and that's still thirty bucks.

Having said that, although I don't dislike the game.. I do find it a tad
disappointing.. after all the hype and it's a pretty average racing game
with fancy pants..
it kept me off Sky Odyssey and Monkey Island for a day or two.. but am back
to them now :-)

I'g guess you are in a minority not liking it. It's a good game, just
over-hyped. I agree with Digi, MSR (bug fixed) is a better game.
If GT3 hadn't been so hyped, everyone would probably be quite happy
with it...
It certainly does look fantastic, but seeing as GT1 never did anything for
me I can't imagine this being any different from what I've heard.

I reckon you are right on that. I loved (& still do GT1 & GT2 - I even
spent about 20hrs last week playing GT2 on bleemcast as a warm up to
GT3) but if you didnt like the previous ones imo there is nothing new to
make you like GT3.
The thing is, I pretty much got my PSX for GT1, and seeing as I now know I'm
not that bothered about the series, I still have no reason to get a PS2
despite the much heralded system seller that is GT3! Whether I can live
without Tony Hawks 3 is another matter entirely.....

shows how people are different i guess. i cant stand any of the Tony Hawks
games. the new iss EVO & wipeout Fusion are my next must haves

Oh yes, completely agree - SSX and GT3 are really crap games.
Gareth.
Really? I thought pretty much everyone loved them. I like the incredible
freedom to do pretty much whatever you want wherever you want myself - not a
lot of games can let you do that I feel.
An ISS Evo would be great, it they tweak Evo2 just a little, it'll be
fantastic. I'll be interested to see Wipeout as well, I do like those games
cause they offer quite a challenge on the hard levels. Question is, how
many games should it take to make a console a viable buy?
[ste]
HELLO!!!?!?! Wakeup call!
I thought the same about SSX!
Everyone I know love SSX. Just not in this newsgroup!
-jarle
Thats not really what I mean; even there you're still always going down a
hill, right? I meant more along the lines of if I want, I could go round
over the same thing over & over again trying to perfect an amazing set of
tricks.
[ste]
well fact is after a pretty poor start, there are quite a few other good
games in development
for the none pc owner there is half life (nowt new if you have a pc)
Colin McRae 2 is in development so i am told though would love to see
proof of this..
Resident Evil Code Veronica (unless you have a DC already)
Crazy taxi ditto
+ saw some good looking games on a demo disk recently
dunno name but 1 was like a resident evil type game in ancient japan &
other was a shootemup - looked a bit like thunderhawk 2
+ i would love to have a play on sky oddysee

Can't stand them either. Only vaguely enjoyed Jet Set Radio come to
think of it.

Can't wait to see this one. Any idea when it's out?

1 (if you have the money).
Why don't you like them? They're not really anything like JSR either, so I
wouldn't compare them that way - not too much of a JSR fan myself, nice as
it looks.

Dunno, sure someone was talking about it recently though, so have a look
around the recent threads.

One decent game is reason to get a console? You've got to be kidding!
(quickly avoids fact that I bought an N64 just for Zelda:OoT, but I did sell
the lot as soon as I'd finished it) I've got the money (well, I did until I
went & got a holiday), but I don't see any reason to get a PS2, even when
TH3, EU Winning Eleven 5 (ISS Evo) and Wipeout Fusion come out. Without a
bit of variety I don't think there's much point having a console.
[ste]
i dunno i could never really see the point of it myself, much prefer an
out an out race/fight/contest rather than "go round over the same thing
over & over again", which just isnt my bag.
each to their own i guess.

I bought a ps2 purely for GT3 and have not regretted it for a second,
for some people one game is enough, for others it's not. Surely it all
depends on your circumstances and interests? The only reason I buy
consoles is to play games and if there's a game out that I want to play
I'll buy the console.
T.
Oh well guess that's why there's a choice !

Why? Interesting question. I don't know, they leave me feeling totally
cold. BMXing and skateboarding are totally dull sports IMO. To be
quite frank Tony Hawks is amongst the least enjoyable games I have
ever perservered with for more than 10 minutes.
I don't like the tricks part of SSX either, but I do like the racing
in it.

Well it all depends on how much money you have available for games
doesn't it? I buy every console really, but the PS2 has so far been
the worst buy. GT3 is the best game and to be honest, it's (graphics
aside) worse than GT2. Project Gotham is the driving game I really
want to see having enjoyed MSR so much.
Aha, there you go then - if you don't like the tricks, thats a massive part
of TH anyway. Thinking about it though, I didn't like the demo of the BMX
game that was with THPS2, and thats pretty much the same thing but with
bikes!

Doesn't really depend on money - I could afford the stuff, but I don't have
a PS2. I did do it once though, when I bought an N64 just for Zelda. Sold
it soon after though, as there was nothing else I was interested in and
there didn't seem any point having it.
