You may not know me, but I wrote the music for the games Driver and Driver 2
for the playstation. I have recently remixed all the original tunes into
CD quality audio and uploaded them to my MP3 site for free download.

More driving music to play over GT3! Great stuff, very slick,
especially the last track (8) which for some reason reminds me of old
demotunes.
Thanks, Allister!

it was pissing me off so i did a search & found his web site.
he was indeed the bloke i was thinking of. quality games musician (in my
younger days, whilst having no musical talent of my own, i used to record
all game music onto tape & listen with my walkman (was to embarassed to do
it on the stereo incase i had the piss taken.
its quite funny tho, becasue after that i got into the whole light metal
thing, & recorded over these tapes so at the end of many of my AC/DC &
Iron Maiden tapes (I know
piracy is bad etc but from my school days & every now & then i like to
dige em out) are some of these tunes which didnt get wiped over, so
even now when i wanna listen to this stuff, on a few tapes i have the joys
of Killing game show, shadow of the beast, Project X, premier manager,
sensi soccer (goal scoring superstar hero), agh that other sensible game
with "war has never been so
much fun", Alien breed. Its such a nice sense of nostalgia & to be honest
a lot of games companies should imo take a step back & go back to the
roots.
if i want to listen to chart music etc thats what i'll do, in a game i
would
much prefer to hear a unique tune which is made by a computer, rather than
just CD audio.
May not know you? Alien Breed! You wrote part of the soundtrack to my
eleventh*year on earth!

*may or may not be chronologically accurate, but near enough!

its true he was (is? dunno cant remember the driver sound track) one of
the quality muisicians.
hope he checks this ng to chat, mind you i spose he is too busy for
that.... Having said that got to chat & read other peops messages with
some of the guys who made quantum redshift for xbox on another ng so am
happy :o)
I used to have a few tapes that I'd recorded Amiga game music onto. The
R-Type intro (before pushing the start button) was superb. Space Harrier was
pretty good too. Another favourite musician from the Amiga scene was Dr.
Awsome (Bjorn someone) who wrote some fantastic tunes for the demo group
Crusaders. He went on to write game music, and is probably most well known
for the Worms theme.
On a similar subject a couple of yearts ago I was chatting to our network
administrator at work and it turned out he wrote the music for the Jesus on
E's demo.
I recorded the Speedball 2 music onto tape.. I'm going to shutup now.

i hated that one (still recorded it - had most games on at some point
bitmap bros had some cool tunes on some games tho
Magic pockets & Xenon II spring to mind (& for some reason Gods but i cant
actually remember the tune)
i baught nearly all Bitmap bros stuff as it was excellent
YES!! 'Into .... dum dum dum ... the wonderfull ... dum dum dum'
Excellent tune.
Which sadly you won't get..
Now it's mega scored items on CD..
I prefer the creative work of yester year, made the old machines work
hard..
Have you heard of FischerSpooner? I'm listening to their album right now,
and was reminded of this thread by it. The first minute of track 6 could
have been on a Amiga game (although doubtless you will say they're nowhere
near as good).
