Yes. Zelda and VC titles on Sunday, I think. I love Gunstar Heroes,
though I've got very, very rubbish at it in my old age.
> That is all.
No. I will also be playing Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, which seems to
have bosses twice as hard as Dawn of Sorrow. And the dialogue sections
are amusingly rubbish. Apart from that it's ace and I'm getting used to
the two-character play now.
MGS: Portable Ops turned up for the PSP after I ordered it in a moment
of madness. I might play that. Or at least try to. MGS games tend not to
make sense at the best of times and this is a continuation of MGS3,
which I've never played.

Probably some Wii Zelda, if my girlfriend let's me start the game.
She's already far into it...
Red Steel. Maybe a bit. Same problem as with Zelda though.
Sim City 3000. Maybe. If I can be bothered. Found it in a closet and
remember liking it. I could of course install Civ 4 again....hm...
Paradise. Again, a big maybe. If I can be bothered. It's strange
really, I completed two games this week and I really don't know what I
should start now.
Probably not dissimilar to me, then.
LOVING wii sports - especially bowling. Struggling a bit with baseball, but
managed to hit 6 home runs in training this morning, which is 6 more than my
previous best. :)
I will most likely make a start on Zelda, which I haven't even unwrapped
yet.
I'm a few days behind everybody else, so you'll have to forgive me, but I am
still completely bowled over by the machine itself. I can't remember the
last time I had so much FUN playing videogames. Looking at the launch games
I'm a little concerned at the lack of depth of quality titles, but I doubt
very much that that will worry me for a while, if Zelda is as huge as I've
heard.
I'll probably also be looking for my usual online fix on the 360. RS:Vegas
almost certainly, and perhaps a wee bit of Tiger.
Mostly Wii, though. :D

There's a point where it just clicks. I didn't even hit the ball on my
first 50 or so swings but I hit 8 home runs in training last night and
the other two just short. Still haven't sussed tennis yet. The angle of
your shot seems to be determined by timing rather than shot technique,
which is wrong.

Then you're a fool. Apparently Wednesday's XBLA game is aces.
That reminds me, I bought Assault Heroes the other day. It's not bad,
though I'm not entirely sure I should have paid 800 points for it.
And Marvel Ultimate Alliance just arrived from Play Asia, finally. But
I'll probably wait until Zelda is finished with before starting that.
I don't think I've reached that 'click' point yet. I'm at least hitting the
ball every time, but the direction and particularly the distance seems a bit
unpredictable.
I haven't played that much tennis yet, but it felt pretty natural to me.
Makes sense to me that if you swing earlier (and thus hit the ball later in
your swing) that it will go to the left (for a right handed forehand), and
vice versa.
Like I said, I'm loving bowling. I have a natural hook, it seems, and find
it *very* hard to bowl a straight ball, but I seem to be able to manage a
controlled slice quite well. Thus I'm bowling against my natural turn, but
am able to hit the 'pocket' pretty consistently.
Chris.
GT: SomethingWitty
That's a little extreme, no?
Admittedly mine has seen no action since I got the Wii, but, y'know,
variety, spice of life and everything.
Incidentally, do we know when/if there'll be actual online play on the Wii,
and if it'll be a premium service ala Live Gold? Just think how much fun Wii
Sports could have been if it was online.

It would be very nice if it could determine whether you intend to play
a forehand or backhand and move accordingly, but if you switch the
remote to the other side of your body the character does nothing, and
the control of the spin of your shot seems kinda random. It's great
fun, but I never quite feel in control.

But you're both, so it doesn't really matter.
Are you right or left handed ?
I am completely unable to bowl straight unless I launch the ball in the
air. I have to move all the way to the right just to hit near the middle.
I'm left handed and my shot bends quite a bit to the right.

had a go at Wii Sports on a mate's wii - not hooked yet :)
hopefully in a few months time there will be games that i will want

Hopefully Rabbids and Play are turning up tomorrow.
Zelda looks far worse in 50hz rather than 60 on my projector for some
reason - colours are far too bright so I am going to hold off until I
get a decent cable.
More Wii Sports
Possibly Tony Hawks (360) - still unwrapped.

Play is a bit rubbish, but worth it for the extra controller since they

It's a major disappointment, and the character looks stupid as a
result, but it's so insanely ridiculous that you don't notice. I can
imagine it being far more of a distraction on Trauma Centre. Zelda's
great and I enjoy it, but it would still be much better if it was in
720p with hi-res textures and hi-poly character models.
I actually enjoy play. It good for those moments when you dont really
want to play anything too involved.

Because it would look prettier, be easier to see, be more comfortable
on the eyes. Stuff like the fact that the grass looks like one solid
clump and doesn't appear to be seperate blades until you get close to
it is annoying to me, as is the fact that the characters all have

But, it'd still be the same game and play just the same. And how exactly
would things be "easier to see"? You can see things just fine as it is.
I can't remebmer who, but someone made the point that being able to *read*

Seeing a small thing on the ground from a distance in a mixture of
horrible blurriness is impossible. Good graphics don't make a game, but
they make it better. GOW on PS1 would've been shite.
>I can't remebmer who, but someone made the point that being able to *read*
>signs instead of going up to them and pressing A would makes things nicer.
But they're all in Hylian or something in the Zelda games where you *can* read
them, so you still can't.
If they wanted to make them readable, they'd be readable. I'm guessing that
having to translate the signs for other regions is the reason they're not -
not some technical limitation.
I'm not so sure. There's no reason the signs themselves can't be as
multilingual as dialog boxes.
Shak

Not if it was designed for the PS1 in the first place. If you can't do
something, technically, you don't do it or find an alternative. So, in Zelda,
if you can't see an item far away, you don't need to see it. Or they move it
closer. Or give you a hint it's there.
Is Oblivion any worse in SD than in HD? No. It's not as pretty, but you're
not limited to how you play it and it's still the same game.
>I'm not so sure. There's no reason the signs themselves can't be as

Oh, I know that, but it's easier if they don't. Besides, having it all in
Hylian makes it more authentic. Or something.
Mine dosnt look that bad at all!
I think it was Oblivion that they were comparing Zelda to.
I've not got the game myself; are the signs there "written" or not?
I guess the question is whether playing in HD increases your enjoyment of
the game or not.

No but going off on one and making several pointless posts in a thread just
because someone said it'd be nicer with a higher resolution is just funny
when you yourself will go to some lengths to make the visuals nicer...which
is admitting that a nice clear crisp picture DOES make the game better.
It's not 'the same game' if you use component because the muddy picture
ruins the visuals.
All I'm saying, is I hate this whole "It's just the same game!!!" argument
when it's silly and naive to think that visuals don't help make a game
better. What's wrong with wanting things to be pretty? I know this sort
of nitpicking with Zo is what you do for fun in your daytimes, but still.

The difference is, that Zo was suggesting the Wii hardware should be improved
and the output be HD so that you could see objects further away as that would
make the game better and easier to play. What I have done, is make the
existing game a bit better to look at. Buying a cable and rewriting a game
and redeveloping some hardware are not the same things.

It doesn't ruin it. Strawberries are nice, yes? Strawberries and cream are
nicer. But strawberries on their own are still nice.

Nothing. Wanting perfectly good games to do things they're not developed for
*for no reason* (like seeing items in the distance that you don't need to
see), is pointless, however.

I have to pass the time between gaming sessions somehow :)
