Hooray, finally some snow outside. Everything is white, the sun is
shining, it's nice and pleasant, not too cold....the best time of the
year to stay inside and play some games!

Play:

Twilight Princess (Wii): In the 6th (?) dungeon now, although I
suspect I nearly finished it yesterday. Unfortunately, I arrived at
the boss door realising that I didn't pick up the boss key yet. I
couldn't be bothered to run trough the whole bloody dungeon yet again
just to search for that bloody key. So I stopped.

Wii Sports: As suspected, we had some friends staying at our place
over the weekend. And once again, Wii Sports turned out to be THE
party game. Expecially bowling :-)

Wii Play: See Wii Sports really, only slightly less. And no Bowling.

Yoshis Island DS: It's fascinating, really. I love the game, but I'm
still getting utterly bored after 20 minutes of playing it. Does that
mean it's not that much of a good game after all?

Want:

A new Wii game. Zelda is lovely, but apart from that there's nothing
which really interests me. Curse of the early adopters, I assume.

A better wireless connection for my Wii. At the moment, it works
whenever it wants to do something. Which apparently most of the time
isn't when I want it to do something. Gah.

Bin:

Snow. On the roads, at least.

Crackdown Demo (360) - Played this a lot more over the weekend. I've put
hours in to it now. I think it may just be the greatest demo I have ever
played. I do love a good sandbox. If they'd given the demo a score and
online leaderboards then it'd be a game in itself.

Hamsterz Life (DS) - The Engrish is highly amusing. But maybe hamsters
really talk like that?

Weird Worlds (PC) - Got the full game in the end. Quick lunchtime space
exploration. Really very nice indeed. Freecell can die now.

Tony Hawk Downhill Jam (DS) - Hmm. Umm. Not quite what I was expecting.
A lot faster than I thought it'd be and I'm not sure about the controls
yet. They're beginning to feel more natural, though, so maybe I just
need to give it time.

Lumines (360) - Downloaded the free new skin and the 100 point VS CPU
pack. Didn't bother with the puzzles. Got to level three of the VS CPU
game and then got horribly stuffed. Ouch. Tried out the new skin. It was
very nice, but instead of just playing through once it looped round
about six times before suddenly stopping for no apparent reason. Odd. So
I went back and played the normal Base mode. Didn't do very well.

Actionloop (DS) - It's the "inspiration" for Zuma with touch screen
controls and ugly presentation. Not very interesting at all, really.
The touch screen works fine, but I don't find using it as much fun as
using the stick in Zuma on the 360.

> Yoshis Island DS: It's fascinating, really. I love the game, but I'm
> still getting utterly bored after 20 minutes of playing it. Does that
> mean it's not that much of a good game after all?

I'm almost the same. I've enjoyed it when I've played it, but I never
even bother to start it up any more.

> Want:

Crackdown (360) - I need this. I need the new islands. I need more than
an hour of play time. I'm even looking forward to building up my stats
more slowly.

> Bin:

Picross (DS) - So close! The first two sets of puzzles are fine, but
then it goes to a 15x15 grid and you don't have all the grid on screen
at once and it's a pain to move around and click on squares and I can't
be bothered with it any more. Bah.

Wii Points (WII) - I nearly broke down and bought Mario Kart 64, despite
the lack of ghost saving (which really bothers me). However, I had 800
points so needed 200 more to buy Mario Kart. As the minimum I could buy
was 1000, I didn't bother. (Also, my credit card was upstairs and
Nintendo hadn't remembered it from last time I'd used it and I couldn't
be bothered to go at get it.)

Nice to do one of these again.

LoZ: Twilight Princess (Wii): Just before the first real boss having
defeated the arse slapping king of the monkeys. Great game, the
controls have really clicked with me.

Wii Sports: a few rounds of golf with a mate last night after I finally
read the instructions properly to sync an extra wiimote. Probably got
more exercise playing Wii Sports this weekend than I have in the last month.

Wii Play: Nothing terribly interesting there, played through all the
games, doubt I'll go back to it much, cow riding was fun though.

Tch. We had snow last week.

>Play:

Mario Kart 64 (Wii)
IS LOVELY. Graphics are ace, but the levels seem sparse. Plays well though.
Didn't play it through loads though, just a couple of cups.

Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
Improved on about 6 goals (Am to Pro), but I'm still on Rank 6. Boo. I did,
however, also find a few gaps and totally PWNED the kiddies on Live. One kept
restarting the "get 5,000,000 points" game every time I started winning. Tch.

Castlevania COTM (GBA)
I'm up to Hugh. Hughray! Camilla was easy (especially once I remembered the
"wait and strike" technique wot beat me Dracula in SCIV), but Hugh isn't.
Well, he isn't too hard (I can get him to his red form every time) but my main
problem with him is that I can't get to him with more than half my energy
intact, as there's a Devil and several Dark Armours on the way, both of which
take HUGH-GE chunks of energy from me. Grr. I'm on Level 40, so perhaps I
should level up a bit more? There's a few reachable-but-unexplored bits of
castle which might have some HP-ups in them too.

Guitar Hero (PS2)
RAWK! Really need GH2 now, I think. I'm getting a little bored with the
tracklist.

Heavy Weapon 360 - Them huge bombers with the big nukes are a bit of a
pain. Also did some survival and 3 player survival which was a good
laugh if somewhat chaotic.

Doa4 360 - Two player session against button bashers.

Viva Pinata 360 - Got my Elephanilla Master Romancer award and did some
flutterscotch changing but it is becoming a bit chore-like now.

Fifa '07 360 - Quick game against Sheff United who I steamrollered er
1-0 thanks to a goalkeeping error by Chubs Kenny. The passing still
doesn't seem quite right to me though.

Depressingly little, for one reason or another.
I managed a couple of hours of Dynasty Warriors 5 on Saturday afternoon, but
apart from that I didn't touch anything all weekend. Boo.

I did enjoy watching Dawn of the Dead on C4 last night though, which has
made me decide that I really ought to get Dead Rising at some point.

Also, on the subject of films, I went to see 'Venus' yesterday, and I can't
speak highly enough of it. A really beautiful film, and Peter O'Toole in
fine form. Watch it.

Phoenix Wright: Justice For All (DS) - Has made up the bulk of my
weekend playing. Spent about 20 minutes last night going "It's HERE in
the photo", to be told "no it isn't, guilty!" over and over again, and
having just checked a guide, it's WHERE I WAS SAYING DAMNIT.

Uno (XBLA) - Chilled goodness. A great game to flump to.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted (360) - More 7th spot progress was made.

Lumines Live! (XBLA) - I bought this and all the packs for some reason
unbenown to me. Maybe because the packs are temporarily cheap. I am
truly terrible at it.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (XBLA) - Bought this as well. After buying
Lumines I had 100 points left so I had to order buy 5,000 more off
Marketplace. I am rubbish. I can't do the Endurance stage on easy.

Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360) - Went into Game on Saturday to buy Mary
virtual porn (DOAX2) and couldn't resist, since it was £29.99 and I had
£15 on my reward card. Enjoying it so far, although sometimes after a
message or something the framerate drops to single-figures for a few
seconds, and I'm crap at controlling it and can't manual for more than
15 seconds (in THUG1 I could hold a manual for over two minutes), but
it's way better than THAW and Nail The Trick is aces when you get it
sussed. Rodney Mullen's likeness is just as scary as the demo though.

New-Rally X (XBLA) - Yet another of my "MUST BUY MORE XBLA GAMES"
binge. Again, I'm truly rubbish at it. The enemy cars are *much* faster
than mine and I can't find a way of losing them.

Small Arms (XBLA) - And yet another one. A game I impulse bought and
can't play. And there was a grand total of nobody playing online last
night. Anyone with the Six Degrees achievement up for a game sometime?

Gears Of War (360) - Playing through act 5 on Hardcore, shot the
reavers with the chain guns, got the beserker to run off the train, and
am now at a bit with a million and one exploding wretches in confined
spaces. Hard. However, as the game has progressed it has gotten better
and better. It really is that good. And it's quite pretty, too.

Bastage. Manchest0r is just a bit grey and damp. We had a few flakes last week
but nothing since then. Hate.

> Play:

World of Warcraft (PC) - Went up a level and a half this weekend - I'm about
half an hour of grinding away from level 57 now, so I can almost use all that
shiny new content I paid for in TBC. On the subject of which, I'm not so
convinced I like The Exodar. It's a bit too bright and shiny, it's miles
away from anywhere useful, and I think I just don't like "indoor" cities. I
always felt much more comfortable in Stormwind than Ironforge.

Children of Mana (DS) - Oddly compulsive, given how shallow the gameplay is.
The boss in the ice castle thingy was disappointing, though - run up behind
him, twat him four or five times with a sword and he dies. The last stage of
the dungeon before him was far harder - and far more satisfying once you'd
figured it out. But it's (a) extremely pretty and (b) brainless fun, so it's
well worth the 15quid I paid for it.

Lost Planet (360) - Mission 5 boss FTW. After the annoyingly difficult and
frequently unfair fights of levels 3 and 4, 5 was a refreshing change; a
really well designed and balanced fight.

No snow in Florida. Ever. One pretty boy weatherman in the state predicts
some snowfall every year, and every year he's proven wrong. I'd love to
have that sort of job security. :)

>>Play:

Wizardry Tale of the Forsaken Land (PS2) - One might be compelled to ask
why this is worth playing, given the primitive graphics and the ludicrous
plot and the bland turn-based combat. Actually, that last bit isn't true
because of the ability to play defensively. It's not really practical to
level up incessantly and bulldoze through monster fights, but it's
incredibly rewarding to change up tactics. This game goes on the 'glad I
played it' shrine along with Grandia II, Morrowind and Ultima V.

Phantasy Star Universe (PS2) - Idiot children who think the game is a
dating service make my skin crawl. Which is why I play solo more often
than not.

Romancing Saga (PS2) - What wonderful music. Albert Odyssey was the last
game with any kind of sountrack that made this kind of impression. If only
I could be bothered to actually play the game now instead of just running
through the FMV over and over. :)

Nintendo DS - I'm so far behind. And yet, there are so few RPG titles for

one of these for them, a Sega Master System clone the size of a Gameboy
Micro. Has 50 games built in and rather nice LCD screen, and rumor is that
one can graft onto it a cartridge slot and an SCART port. Of course,

They do get easier, but level 12, followed by level 15 are the two
tricky ones to get by - try altering your weapons array.

Anyway... what did I play this weekend?
GOW (360) Still plugging away at this - finished Act 3 on Insane - the
boss was easy, as I expected, and the end of level set-piece taking out
all the Locii on the Refinery was tricky - but then I expected it to be.
Didn't manage to get onto Live with it though. Boo.

Just Cause (360) Seeing as I don't want to buy anything at the moment
and can't really think of anything I want anyway - I decided to start
going through the games I have which I've barely touched - this one
fitted the bill on the weekend - well it fitted the 'it's easy and I
don't need to think' bill. It still looks lovely, and is a pleasant
place to hang out. It still feels unfinished as well - I'm sure if they
pulled their thumbs out they could make a really excellent game with the
engine they have here - generally got the impression that the coders
were better than the games designers here... My problems are as follows
- the island is very beautiful and absolutely massive - but there is
little or no story or incentive to explore and everything is on the map.
It's a lack of structure really - why have the whole bloody island open
from the get go, yet you have to make progress in the game to get the
agency drop gyrocopter which is essential for traversing the 1000sq km
island - also, the side quests are all open and vary enormously in
difficulty and the only thing I can think is that they shouldn't all be
open yet but should be attached to some level and narrative. The
hugeness can be a problem when you're stuck on foot, a mile or so from
water or a road and you have to walk! The grapple hook is very hit and
miss when targeting choppers.
Getting killed by a vehicle you've jumped out of is annoying, but mainly
what's more annoying is the lack of continuation from side quests if you
die. On the main story quests, if you die mid way through, it seems to
automatically checkpoint - so you go back to the part of the quest you
died on - on the side quests (which outnumber the story quest about
10-1), if you die, you get transfered back to a random safe house on
that part of the island, usually miles away and have to start from scratch.

Besides all this, it's starting to click and I've decided that when the
mood takes me I will wander the island at random, doing things like
leaping out of planes at 10000 ft and freefalling to the island - but
when I feel like making progress I will section off parts of the island
and complete the tasks there. I like this game, and can't help feeling
that for want of six months extra development this would have been a AAA
title.

Rummaging through my office, I rediscovered my GP2X lying forlornly on a
shelf and got back into James Pond 3 on a MD emu. It's a bit tough ;-)

A bit of Heavy Weapon - made progress from 12-18 then stopped again.
It's still fun - but I can't help feeling it won't get played much once
I finish the main quest.

Can't think of much else I played over the weekend...

I have urges to buy stuff which I'm doing pretty well to avoid and I'm
being quite disciplined with playing the stuff I kinda got distracted
from last year - and I have some humdingers to get through including
Oblivion. I think my main rationale is to play rather than collect. I
was thinking toward the end of last week about a list of games that I
own, that I've promised myself I will play at least enough to know
whether or not I will stand a chance of finishing them. The list is
quite big, as you can imagine but will require some decisiveness - there
are some games I bought out of peer-reviews and know I won't ever play
them because I'm being overly optimistic about me playing a genre I
don't like, whereas there are others I know are good and regret not
giving them the play that they deserved - this is usually because they
were released at busy periods of the year.

Play:

Mage Knight on the DS... Slightly dodgy touch screen handling but
engrossing nevertheless.

Snooker on the 360. Too much. Must improve positional play.

Want:

More turn based battle RPGS on the 360. Enchanted Arms was good but need
more.

Wii.

Bin:

All FIFA and PES games. I'm just crap at them.

Ace. If only 'cos I get to play for hours with my dad and sister-in-law. It
really is stunning how it manages that - and purely 'cos of the remote since
the same would never play with me on the GC. Another amzing effect is how,
even though there's only really 10 or so games, they're all very different
due to the context in which you're placed by the forms. Some are very
inventive too - including one where you HAVE to use the strap.

To regain my interest in Zelda:TP. I think I'm still in the Forest Temple

Which reminds me, I caught up with a couple of demos this weekend.

PES 6 Demo (360) - Couldn't work out how to defend properly. Had a
couple of shots, but didn't have much possession. Lost 1-0. Deleted demo.

Smackdown Vs Raw 2007 (360) - It's called something like that, anyway.
It seems to consist of loading screens and not a lot else. When I
finally did reach something that seemed to be a game I couldn't seem to
do anything but fall over. Maybe I should have watched the tutorial
videos, eh? Anyway, demo deleted.

There's one wave later in the game with the bombers which is a pain, get
two on the screen at a time and if you have no nukes your done for.

Levels 12 and 19 I found hardest. Four times I got to the boss in 19 to
die stupidly and each time it took me about 6 attempts to get to it
again. Got him in the end though.

Why couldn't I finish Boss Battle (which is ace BTW), very oddly I died
on the 11th - most of the bosses are piss easy so getting all 19 on one
life should be straightforward, shouldn't it?

Biggest annoyance in the game? The helicopter dropping items at the
beginning of the level in the same order, speed up, power up, and the
other one up. None of which make a huge difference and if you get a hard
wave to start a level what you really need is shields or nukes. It
actually makes the beginning of the levels harder than the end as the
copter drops shields and nukes later. Why bother with the three upgrades
at all and just give them to you as a given?

Still everyone went "oooh" and "aaaah" when we told people she was just

I glided through the first few worlds. It was quite boring even. Things
picked up and by World 4 I was really enjoying it.
Then Level 5 - 5 happened. To say it's tough is putting it mildly. I must
have lost 30 lives trying to get through. Eventually I did, but Level 5 - 6
is even tougher -and you need to get 4 keys to complete it, so it means a
_thorough_ root through every nook & cranny each time you play.
The game went well-down in my estimation by then.

I don't like too easy and I don't like too tough. Nintendo can get this
right more often than not, but the designers of this game (Artoon?) haven't
quite balanced it correctly.
Basically it's a very good game for a small percentage of its levels.

Perhaps said teenagers are located on an elevation, and behind deKay
relative to his position on the X/Y plane. He would therefore make best
use of the biceps by way of an upward arc motion, not unlike a rear-facing
trebuchet.

But with biceps of steel, deKay would have superior artillery distance and
payload volume. And in a lower position, he would be able to calculate
approximate absolute distance rather than relying on parabolic maths.

I think what I did was take advantage of a card combination which lets
you transfer MP to HP. I transferred until my health was back up to max
and then waited for my MP to restore too. I also put on defensive
robes.

In true Metroidvania style I fought Hugh a few times and thought "Crikey
this is impossible" and then proceeded to beat him outright once it had
clicked.

Which bit are you stuck on? The only bit I can imagine giving you any
grief is a section with a bunch of drop-down lava chutes, but there's
an invincibility at the bottom left of that room which will allow you
to run straight across. There's no point harvesting really, but pick up
anything you come across, and there's no benefit whatsoever to come
from killing all the animals.

It's not that I'm stuck, per se. It's just that by the end of Marble
Zone I've lost the 3 lives I get at the start and have not picked up
many more en route. I thought that the best way to get 1-ups would be to
scour all the levels looking for alternative routes but that seems to go
against the gung-ho style of the game.

Explore the alternative routes of Green Hill Zone Acts 1 & 3, there are
at least 300 rings in each of these stages. For easy lives: on GHZ act
two, at the beginning when you get to the big dip with the swing bridge
on it, drop down and take the path to the left, which will then take
you down a path to the right. Follow this and navigate the platforms
(it can be tricky), and the red spring at the end will land you on top
of that loop where the life is that you've probably been wondering how
to get. On GHZ act three, stick to the bottom path. Eventually you'll
come to a brick wall, but you'll notice the colour is slightly
different. Go back a bit, then run back towards it and press down as
you approach it to roll into a ball and destroy it (may need to be done
twice to get all the way through). Follow this new path to the right,
and when you get to a spring and some spikes and it looks like you can
go no further (level with the start of the spikey log), you can.
Carefully jump over the spring, then jump over the spikes and you'll
drop quite a way, but down here there's a life and 40 rings or so. The
spring at the end of the path will also bypass the spikey log. The
other one I remember off the top of my head is in Marble Zone act 2.
The bit where you're on the block and the lava pushes you up and you
have to jump off at the last one. Don't jump. When the block gets to
the end, you can walk through that wall where there's a life, but on
the run back the lava doesn't fire up, so you have to go back across on
the block and then back again in order to do the jump. Hope this helps!
If not I can make a video of the bits in question with an emulator.

Ah yes, deKay is limited to only two simultaneous missiles during any
given weapon delivery scenario, barring the addition of bionic limbs or
any ability to lob a snowball off the end of his boot. He is further
hampered by facing away from his target, requiring the use of a reflective
surface or electronic sensory enhancement to calculate properly distance
and trajectory. Given these variables I imagine that deKay would be able
to confront no more than three surly, bellicose teenagers when launching
snowballs with his biceps of steel.

*nods* once you see where the lightening hits you, er, just don't go
there :) It's the usual story with Castlevania - if you try and do the
boss quickly, you'll lose. You just have to attack when it's safe to do
so.

This has several cock-ups, including running head-first into spikes and
being bounced back up a slide (controlling Sonic using a Mac laptop
keyboard is harder than it looks), and I've not even touched the top
routes, where there are another five or six lives to be had, but this
is just very quickly demonstrating how it's easy to get through Green
Hill Zone in around five minutes and come out with at least 8 lives,
and shows you how to get a couple of the not-so-obvious ones, so
hopefully it'll be of some use to you. And sorry for the YouTube

Have you seen the video on youtube where they set up a robot arm with a
sword to match wiimote movements?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qEotHQgUsg

I wonder how realistic you could make a sword fighting game in practice
without any feedback from blade contact in parries and disengages? You'd
also have to take account of stance and body position for voiding
attacks, and also allow for the use of off hand weapons or bucklers in
defence.

If I were you I'd equip any luck items you have (these make cards more
likely to appear) and then go on an audit of your map looking for secret
rooms you haven't found. You'll find secret rooms with HP+ items in them
and, in the meantime, probably hoover up some more DSS cards along the
way.

World of Warcraft (PC) - There's really very little in the expansion if
you're not level 60, so I've unsubscribed again. Guild Wars does
expansions better.

Yakuza (PS2) - The dialogue is very funny, but I'm unsure if it's
intentionally so. The game's great, though. A bit combat heavy, perhaps,
but I still find myself barging into tough-looking people in the streets
in the hope they'll pick a fight with me. I love the atmosphere of the
game. It has that Shenmue-like realism to it, somehow, though it's far
more seedy and unpleasant than anything in that game.

Lode Runner (DS) - Finished the Lode Runner levels last week. Can't do
level 1 of the Championship stages. It's a real shame there's no online
level sharing stuff in the game, as Hudson are running a design contest
at the moment, and it'd be great to be able to download the winners
(rather than having to manually enter them). Even a Polarium-style code-
based system would be good.

Not much, really, other than the new Taito collection. I might get Hotel
Dusk as well, as that seems to be getting good reviews.

Codewarrior. I'm doing DS and Wii stuff at work at the moment, so I'm
having to use this. It certainly makes me appreciate Visual Studio's IDE

It's nicely compact, though, which can be useful for running between
trainers and the auction house and what-have-you. As my character's a mage,
it doesn't really make much difference to me where it is as I can just
teleport around the world, so I find Exodar quite decent compared to the
more spread-out cities.

This is why I remain a Sega fanboy. For all their flaws and faults, no
other game company is so dedicated to serving gamers. Sony wants to

wants your demographic data... And Sega wants you to play their games.

Spook! This is *exactly* what I've been doing for the last hour, having
beaten Hugh, and Dracula's first form! Amazing!

I have 10 cards now, but most of the combinations do nothing and I don't have
anything that swaps MP and HP yet :(

Using the crucifix is the way to go with killing Hugh. Don't even aim at him.
Aim away, shoot five of them out and jump over them and him as they come back
at you. They pass through him, causing multiple damages, with a few hits from
my spinning fireballs and a whip-to-the-back for good measure :)

though.

Right. I've done a bit more investigation. Many, many unintelligble
menus, many of which have something to do with Wi-fi and DS to DS
communication. No idea what that's about.

I found the Options menu, but I've no idea what any of the options
actually are.

However, I've also found two new cool things.

Firstly, there seems to be a Daily Picross section, which gave me a
series of 7x7 puzzles, a time and a dot on a graph. In the menu for this
section were unselectable "???" items, which I assume unlock once I've
done enough easy Picross. (You can play the Daily Picross more than once
and it overwrites your earlier score, by the way.) This section alone
rescues the game from the bin for now.

The other cool thing I found were a set of fifteen or so new 10x10
puzzles I'd overlooked. They're in "Free Picross" mode. In this mode you
don't get told if you're going right or wrong until you've completed the
picture. In the other modes if you try to fill in an empty space it
tells you immediately and gives you a time penalty. The idea being to
complete it in a short enough time to get the final picture you create
coloured in and animated.

This would be bloody ace in English and with more 10x10 puzzles and no
15x15 puzzles. (Might be worth mentioning that though my wife finds the
15x15 puzzles awkward they're not gaming-killing for her in the same way
they are for me.)

Cooking Mama (DS) - I bought this ages ago and never really played it
much. Now I'm getting into it and loving it! Can't wait to see it come
out on the Wii

Pro Evo 6 (360) - Doing much better on regular level now and I'm
enjoying it again. I love the fact that the achievements on 360 keep you
playing the cups rather than what I'd do usually and not really bother.

Viva Pinata - I still don't feel like I love this as much as I should,
but I'm not getting as far as fast as I'd like. Just added a pond to my
garden and started breeding fudgehogs, but I have to many pinatas in my
garden that I don't plan on breeding yet and it's getting on my nerves.

Super Mario Bros (Wii) - Finally bought some Wii points and got this.
Its 20 years old and I still love it. It lacks the save & continue I got
used to on the GBA though. I've not put enough effort in so far as I
keep dying around level 3.

Donkey Kong Country (Wii) - I loved this game on the SNES and GBA, so I
plumped for it again on the Wii about a month ago. However using the GC
controller was just terrible so I never got into it. Last week I finally
bought the classic controller and was suprised to find it's wireless
(well plugs into the wii mote) and am pleasantly surprised with it. Now
I have this I'm loving Donkey Kong all over again.

Mario Kart 64 (Wii) - I've been waiting for this for a bit and was glad
to see it released. It looks great considering its 9/10 years old and
I'm enjoying the couple of cups I've played. The lack of ghost data
doesn't bother me because I never used it anyway.

Yoshi's Island DS - I can't get into this game at all. It seems boring,
and theres too much stuff to try and collect in one level, at the moment
I'm just trying to get through each one as quickly as possible but not
even enjoying it. I defiantly think I'll be selling this one.

There is *no* combination that does that! You lying lying liar!

The closest is something that regenerates HP is you stand still, but I need a
Unicorn card for that, and that involves doing the Battle Arena, and it's

level 50+. I'm on 45 and on the last boss.

What's the benefit of collecting lots of rings? Do you get a 1-UP if you

Thanks for doing this. It will be useful. So my current strategy:
Hoover as many 1UPs as possible in Green Hill Zone where it is easy and,
when on the later levels, try to get from A to B as quickly and safely
as possible because hunting 1-UPs will only cost lives.

My copy was 2nd-hand and didn't come with a manual so I didn't think that
many of my combinations did anything until I read on the internet about
'summons'. There are also some combos which protect you against cartain
types of damage but I've never used those effectively.

YES! BUT! You have to stand still for AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGES as it only gives

Lots of fights one after another with no use of cards allowed? But you can
only get a Unicorn card from a White Armour, and they're only in the Arena.

Yep. It seems that EVERY combo does something, it's just that sometimes it
needs to be "triggered". e.g., the half-damage one - you activate it, but it
doesn't register that it does anything until you get hit by something.

IIRC, you can easily pick up 6 lives, maybe more, on GHZ3. Collect them, and
kill yourself. Then collect them all again. And again.

100 rings to get a life, and when she played it she tried to use the d-pad as
a rotary controller...

No, we're witnessing the undoing of deKay's mind. No human ever had a
mangstache like his.

Try equipping Jupiter and Mandragora, then come back and let us know

I've finished SA1 and SA2. Those were 3D and had batgirls and cats in
them so I didn't know how much could be assumed to translate from one to
the other.

Get 100 Rings To Get A Life is the whole *point* of Sonic games! In fact,
replace "Rings" with "Shiny Object X" and you get the point of almost every
platformer ever made ever!

I don't see mention of Tennis Masters on DS anywhere, but it's being
released on the Wii in Europe in March... with no US release scheduled!
(Grr!).

In fact, barring Excite Trucks, I can't think of anything available for US
Wiis that could be missed by EU Wii owners -so far.

It's remarkable - never before has someone been simultaneously WRONG and wrong
on this newsgroup (except Lister, naturally).
