£9.19 for:

3DS
---
Retro City Rampage (and a home theme)
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
Super Street Fighter IV
Rhythm Thief
Citizens of Earth

Wii U
-----
Affordable Space Adventures
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
Darksiders II
Freedom Planet
Citizens of Earth

(you have to choose which platform for Citizens of Earth, but you get Shantae
on both)

More games to come too.

If you're a real skinflint, then just ONE DOLLAR gets you Retro City Rampage,
Affordable Space Adventures and Shantae. Bargain. as they're all awesome.

And yes, they're EU games.

To be clear, these are Nintendo downloads and not physical media, right?
The same Nintendo downloads that can be removed from your system without
warning at any time that Nintendo sees fit to modify their online
services? Balls to that, I'm spending the $17 on an actual cart of
something.

£6.60 if you don't want SSFIV (it's been available on cart new for £3
for years, so I'm guessing everyone who wants it has it) or Darksiders 2
(which has been free on PS+ and/or GwG).

Retro City Rampage actually got a limited release on normal media, didn't
it? The rest of that half I could honestly give a damn about, and even if
I did my backlog is big enough to keep me occupied without them. Remember,
if you're forced to download it you don't actually own it. Charity will
have to do better than this next time.

Actually, to follow this up - no, they can't remove them from your system
whenever they see fit. They can removed them from being able to be
downloaded again, I suppose, but not delete them from your console.

They could always update the OS. Though remote deletion does seem like
quite a reach without any evidence of it happening. The nearest thing
I can think of is when updates removed some Wii homebrew stuff (or
tried to).

All kidding aside, the only time it did happen to me was with Nintendo
Club rewards that were yanked when they implemented the updated account
system all those years ago. Without a way of clearly mapping owned
software titles forward from the old store to the new store, there was no
good way for Nintendo to stop people from endlessly duplicating downloaded
3DS games over and over again unless they just wiped all the files as part
of the OS update. And since all my content was Nintendo Club rewards, I
didn't technically lose any money either.

So while it's not likely to happen again, it was still enough to put a
big, sour taste in my mouth over the whole process. Nintendo continues to
behave like they really don't understand the Internet, like when they
delete shared Mario Maker levels without explanation or limit the stock of
virtual titles for no logical reason. My experience is that Nintendo's not
interested enough in me as a customer to respond to my complaints.

I think it was because most of the people who were affected were casual
gamers or other infrequent downloaders who were less likely to notice or
to care. Because of the way Nintendo was managing the club and the store
at the time, the hardcore gamers were unaffected. Or more likely, were all
running 3DS units with custom firmware at the time. :/

There's precedent for DLC disappearing without a lot of warning. One of
the US e-book sellers remotely deleted everybody's copy of a particular
classic novel, because their licence to distribute ran out and they
misinterpreted that to mean that previously-sold copies were also to be
withdrawn. Interestingly the book in question was Orwell's 1984.

In article <LMnUy.92929$RV1....@fx46.am4>,
I'm leaning towards this preference myself, but that kind of kills any
possibility of backward compatibility with old WiiU games. Just as the
original Wii played Gamecube games, and just as the WiiU will play about
88 percent of the Wii library, I'm hoping the NX will play the majority of
the WiiU titles that are worthy anything. That would save me the bother of
buying a WiiU at all if the next plaform supports all those discs.

Of course, the NX could just be a disk drive for the new 3DSXL. That would
be something.

I really don't see any benefit in them doing that. Surely all 5 people
that wanted a Wii U have now got one? Keeping that same architecture
again and shipping it with a controller with a massive screen, gyro
controls and support for Wii remotes all seems like it would do more
harm than good to appease a tiny section of people.

I'm hoping they produce a clean slate, x86, no Wii remotes, no BC.

I'm not really following NX because there's not enough information to
have any meaningful opinions on it yet. I think I'm in the same camp
as Andy.

Which does comply with your post, I was thinking you meant "still lent". I
had completely forgotten about the whole event! Can't even recall if it was
WiiU or 3DS from this distance, but I don't seem to have any 3DS saves from
it.

Me too. Those are the best.
