This weekend I will play

Pokeyman Moon (3DS)

Spent long time leveling my sandyghast into palosand. Beat a trial
easily with it. I think my team is op now :/

Finally figured out how the day/night cycle works. Call me slow on the
uptake if you like.

Twilight Pricness (Wii U)

Hopefully get another major section done. I don't know if it's because
I'm only playing this to level up my wolf link amiibo, or if it's
because Pokeyman Moon is so much easier to pick up and play, what with
being portable and all, but feels like a slog. Still, it's a £50 slog,
so I'm going to get to the end (let's not talk about the size and cost
of not-even-booted-up-once steam library games).

Fast Racing Neo (Wii U)

Because I've been drooling over Fast Racing on the switch via Digital
Foundry, and I've realised I've not played anything like enough FR Neo,
so that'll get fired up for a bit.

I don't play the game, but my son does. What's the day night cycle?

Could it be because it's a sea of brown?

Really tired after a heavy week at work so I don't know if I can be
bothered with prancing around in VR, despite my kids being away.

Life is Strange would be good to crack on with.

Also watching Twin Peaks for the first time so will catch a few
episodes of that.

I'll be playing:

Teh Zleda (Switch)
It isn't perfect. It has flaws. It's not as good as HYRULE WARRIORS. It isn't
even Zelda, really, but you know what? It's fun. FUN.

The Battle Cats POP! (3DS)
Mobile game on a 3DS, with IAP restrictions but no actual IAPs. Bit annoying,
but only playing for half an hour a day anyway so not a big problem for me.
Baffling there's a Buy Some IAPs delay in it though when you can't.

In Pokeymen Sun, it's day when it's day in real life, and night when it's
night in real life.

In Pokeymen Moon, it's reversed.

Rive (PC) :

Started playing this on a whim the other night and managed to polish off
more than a few levels. Nice little twin stick shooter with some novel

I may get some time for co-op over the weekend as well, and if I do
it'll likely involve Aiens: Colonial Marines, though there may also be
some racing.

I don't know. I only found out it could be night time at all in Moon
when I took my 3DS to work to play in my break. Otherwise, I was always
playing in the evenings, when it's light in Moon. I never knew until
then that it used the real time, I always just thought it was light in
Moon. This is after 27 hours of gameplay! LOL

Yakuza 0 (PS4) - Over sessions spanning four separate days, I finally
caught that last elusive saltwater fish and earned the completion point
associated with disturbing all the endangered species in the ocean. And
then in a half hour last night, I gain eight more points by being really
good at the disco dancing minigame. Somethings strangely imbalanced here,
and I'm not entirely sure it's not me. Anyway, the short term goal is to
get another ten points so that I have enough to unlock the last bit of the
secret fourth fighting style that's available to Kiryu, and then play
through the whole New Game+ mode using only that.

Something on the 3DS (3DS) - I updated to the latest firmware the other
night, and I halfheartedly tried to get into some of the games I carry
around with me all the time. I think it's probably time to dig out the big
box of unloved DS games and see what I've neglected over the years.
Although the smart money is that I'll just restart Infinite Space like
I've been threatening to do for the last month or so.

Ripping DVDs - I remember it wasn't too long ago that I thought it was a
good idea for handheld computing devices to all have the option to connect
an optical drive. I suspect the only way I'm ever getting around to
watching the last two seasons of The Americans is to scale them down so I
can watch them on my phone. For the eleven international intelligence
agencies who are watching, I bought them legitimately and I can
demonstrate proof of purchase and licence to use the media at any time.

likely return to it for this weekend.

The Division (PC) - well duh. Might go onto PS4 though and play it there too

Dead Space (PC) - close to the end so I'll get this done and dusted possibly.

One day I need to rip my DVD collection (in the garage) to my NAS.

I keep thinking about moving my DVD collection onto a media server but the
effort taken to do that would be far more than just putting the disc in a
player.

I've got it down to a partly-automated science. I'm using MakeMKV, which
intelligently generates subfolders based on the DVD media label and which
can be scripted to a degree. You can also tell it to ignore streams below
a certain play length, although I found that to be imprecise when working
with TV shows as opposed to movies. So I've got a separate shell script
that polls for new output and looks at absolute file sizes once the video
streams are exported. Team that with a DLNA server that rebuilds its
library at the end of the day and you've got a mostly foolproof ripping
method.

I suddenly remember the story of the master mechanic who doesn't have a
driving licence because he doesn't actually know how to operate a moving
vehicle. This is by way of saying, I never seem to have time to enjoy all
this video entertainment I've so carefully organising and cataloguing.

-KKC, who should just make ISO images and mount them in Kodi.

It's storage, really. Because they are large we don't want them in the
living room so they go to the garage, which is a bomb site.

The logic train of thought is:
a) I have bought this film
b) Therefore I feel I am allowed to rip it and put it on my tablet
c) I could get someone to do the ripping for me
d) Someone has already done that, and uploaded the result
e) I should just download a copy of the film

Each step seems reasonable, but the end result doesn't?

In article <oagjs7$u2s$1...@murraypaul.eternal-september.org>,
If you're a media company of any description, your argument is that the
licence is strictly limited to the reuse of the actual physical media you
bought, and not anybody else's copy of said media. Put another way, you
are not necessarily entitled to view my rip of the Camp Cuddly Pines
Powertool Massacre just because you also bought the DVD separately.

There's another issue, in that there's no guarantee that what you
purchased matches what you can download. In a bizarre reversal of that
situation, I found out that my first copy of Ocean's Twelve on DVD that I
bought at a discount was actually an eastern European bootleg, which was
missing a few of the extra features and had a slightly broken aspect
ratio. I did eventually buy a legit copy, but owning that previous disk
obviously didn't entitle me to any sort of medium transfer.

It's very polished in terms of presentation.

I probably couldn't say exactly what it was that I like about it, but
it's got the replayability hook thanks to instant restarts and
generous checkpoints, and the fact that gravity toggles on and off
allows it to be both a twin-stick shooter and a platformer.

Looking at the steamdb.info page for it, it appears to be only single
player.

It was part of this month's humble monthly, but it was actually on my
