The link is perfectly legal. What this stupid wannabe pirate is trying to do is not.
Piracy is given short, sharp shrift in this newsgroup, and any fuck who comes in here
expecting help with using or creating "backups" - which are really pirates - deserves
everything they get.
And for your information, I'm 20.

Heh. Let me guess, that TinyURL was hiding the Goatse Man, right? Or was it
the Tub Girl?

And at Bowler's Computer Fair in manchester, and Gaff's Newsagent in

If more people like you stood up for Sega's rights then Sega would probably
of never gone tits up and give up completely on its own console :).

I`m just as morbidly curious as you. Who, or what, is Tub Girl?
Lord Deckard
You really don't want to see this! If you must see it go to tubgirl.com
// Kamaya
PS - I found the answer looking through Google Groups, I wish I hadn't now!

I wonder if they ever thought of using pictures like this in diet plans? It
certainly takes the edge off my appetite!
Nah, it's more fun to fuck with their heads. I find the mental image of the stupid
wannabe pirate clicking the link I gave, looking at the screen for a second or so
before screaming "I'm blind!" immensely entertaining. Granted it's unlikely to have
happened that way, but the image is appealling nonetheless.
My morbid curiosity won out and I went there, but all I saw was a blank page. The
cognitive areas of my brain are now profusely thanking those parts that make me
suspicious enough and computer-savvy enough to have IE's security settings configured
in a way which borders on the paranoiac. (Dunno if I spelled the last word right, but
eh)

I think you should have stopped the post there.
I apologise to everyone for bringing up the subject.
If people took the trouble to read previous posts, they'd soon see that
piracy is not tolerated on this NG. Never has been, never will be.
Now how many of you have got an original copy of it?
Myself included, I'd say it's zero.
Maybe the poor fella was referring to Half-Life? ;-)

Even if he did, it still wouldn't be a backup.

I thought all the copies of HL circulating were burned from a copyrighted

Jay
A pirate copy.

Precisely.

Obviously there is an original somewhere, but just because an original copy exists
doesn't make a given copy a backup.
The only difference here is, while Half-Life DC is still 100% illegal in the consumer
bracket, nobody's going to bother prosecuting as it's not worth it - the lost revenue
is zero and they'd get pennies out of the arrangement at best.

slightly different on the DC, becasue once the GDROM was cracked, there
was no need to chip the DC, therefore people who had never before
considered piracy becasue of the risk of soldering started to get copies.
also, the DC was never as mainstream as the psx/ps2 so piracy would have
hurt more.
however its true imo that the DC was doomed to fail anyway even without
piracy.
poor marketing from sega & false promises from sony meant that too many
people waited to see what the ps2 could do, & once that was released
people baught the ps2 becasue of Sonys image.
sadly, it was long after the DC was doomed that the ps2 actually started
to noticably out perform the DC.

.
each to their own i guess, but for me personally there are quite a few
games on the ps2 i really enjoy.
smugglers run 1+2 (quite an oldie)
Pro Evo Sccer 2
The Getaway
GTA3 + Vice City
Ico
Sky Odyssey
Time splitters 2 (acatually played this more on xbox)
all games which imo are very good & AFAIK dont really have equivalents on
the DC which match it in terms of quality.
however i am in no way knocking the DC, its a great console with the
ultimate 4 player game to date imo, & if it has the games you want on it
then good for you becasue they are mostly dirt cheap these days :o)
First of all, some of u daft pricks would never have realized Vanne or
Vulva or whatever his name is posted a porn site if u hadn't all tried
going there looking for said "secret info." Hmmm, and let me guess
that none of u has any boots in your collections, whether it be PC,
cd's, or even photocopies which would be copies of legal material
thereby making it not so legal because it is a copy of an original.
Why not buy the book or magazine, huh? Don't give me that crap, u
lot, he who does not possesseth sin cast the first stone.
Yeah, right, I've heard from quite a few that their DC's died a
miserable death whether they played boots, backups, whatever, or the
legit games. Mine certainly did and I gave up after trying a number
of legit games because my DC kept seizing in the middle of Rippin'
Riders for example.
No worries, I traded the damn thing in. Problem solved. :)
