I just bought a second hand VMU over eBay and after replacing the
(totally empty) Batteries, the VMU shows japanese writings.
Well, I'm not that good in japanese readings so I wondered if I can
change the language shown.
My manuals for my (newly bought) VMU's had no info on any language
selection, so any hints (up to flashing the eeprom) will be
appreciated.

yes, I did, the VMU expects me to set the time and that's it, no
language setting this way.
But THX
Anyone any more hints?

there has already been a thread between Mike and me about the source
of that quote starting 29.03.2002 with Star Wars Racer as Topic.

maybe its a japanese vmu, they just didnt tell you. seems the most
likely solution to me. still, you should be able to synchronise the
date on it with your dc and id presume any vmu games you download onto
it will have the english writing anyway.

yeah, I already expected to hear this. So no way to change the
language, eh?

Yeah, OK, I am able to set the clock even from hand for that's not
that complicated. And the VMU games are OK as well, but...
I got that go give it to my cousin (he's 11) and he might not be able
to work with it. OK, so he'll get mine and I keep that.
I am still interested, if there's a way to change the language.

Just a stab in the dark, but have you tried reformating it from the VMU
screen on the DC?

thanks, but Yes indeed, just to get one of these funny standby images
on the VMU, it does nothing to the VMU language :-(
