Quake 2 in Me in VMWare

I have created a virtual machine of Win Me in VMWare Player and
installed Quake 2.
This plays perfectly.
I am now trying the various mission packs and starting with The
Reckoning. I install this, but when I try
to run it I get a dialog Error in Initialisation.
Also for my own amusement I have set up virtual machines of Win 95,
2000 Pro and XP Pro.
If I try to install Quake 2 to any of these I get a message that Quake
2 will not install with this language of Win 95/NT.
Can anyone help ?
