Yaohan Plaza, 399, Edgeware Rd, London has everything you need.

or you can mailorder from Japan Imports, St. Ives

Anyone know of any other *specifically* Japanese food shops
in either the NW or NE ? Please Email me details and I will
compile a list - something I have meant to do for some time.

Regards,

The Japanese owned Yaohan Plaza on the Egdware Road in NW9 - Colindale -
just about opposite the junction with Colindeep Lane. Plenty of free
parking.

It has a very large Japanese supermarket with brilliant fresh fish and
meat - all prepared etc. their way - plus every other ingredient you'd
want - and some you wouldn't!

There's also a good food court with Bento boxes, Ramen etc. - and take
away sushi in vast quantities - but everything is there for you to make
your own.

Enjoy!

Do you have the full address? There's a St. Ives in Cornwall, Dorset and
Cambridgshire :-(

Or anywhere.

The address I have for them is:

Japan Imports, 8, Cromwell Place, St. Ives, Huntingdon, Cambs PE17 4JB
Tel 01480-460460 Fax 01480-46036

I haven't ordered from them for about a year. Hope they are still there.

Response has been so stunningly lacking (ie none at all)
I'll accept Japanese food shops or restaurants UK wide...

Belated thanks. I've tried to phone them but BT doesn't like the number you
gave. Directory Enquiries couldn't find a "Japan Imports" in St. Ives and 8
Cromwell Place came up as a private number so they wouldn't give me it.
Think I'll try good old snail mail :-(

Not specifically Japanese but Lung Wah Chong at 41-42 Hythe Bridge Street
Oxford carries a range of oriental foodstuffs. Managed to get wasabi, nori,
and kombu but no dashi-no-moto. Plenty of soy (including the biggest bottle of
Kikkoman I've seen), lots of sake but no mirin. Low on veg. that afternoon but
last time I was in they had a good range. Unfortunately didn't have time for a
good rummage as hospital appointment over-ran.

I must organise a family visit to Yaohan Plaza, 399, Edgeware Rd, London,
sounds wonderful. (Do they give free samples like the food halls in dept.
stores in Shinjuku, that's how I used to get my Sunday breakfasts)

Cheers,
