Two questions:
1.
Has anyone got a site where I can look up the EPIC Codes for UK Gilts?
I can find LSE stocks easily enough but Gilts seem to be a problem.
2.
In 1998 the Bank of England took over responsibility for "Retail
Sales" from the Dept of National Savings.
How does one go about making a purchase from the BoE and is it
possible via a web-site?
Assistance appreciated.

A now defunct web site gave me some EPIC codes for gilts but I never
found any service which would give prices against these. Has anyone
fared better?

Go to http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/ and select 'Gilts Brokerage
Service'. AFAIR this gives you details and forms for postal service
only; you can't do it on line.

I found the BoE site. Very interesting. The forms don't appear to give
me the opportunity to tell the BoE I don't want Stock Certificates but
my CREST account credited instead.
I've now had an e-mail from th BoE that implies that my CREST account
CAN be credited with the stock.
Curiously the BoE claims that "No-one in this office has ever heard of
EPIC Codes".
This despite the fact that War Loan is "WAR.L"
I'm trying them again to clarify a couple of points.
Thanks for the assist.

That could well be where I found them. (Apologies to MX for thinking
they were extinct.) I had hoped that Quicken would get prices for
them automatically, as it does for shares and (some) unit trusts but
it doesn't.

Try www.thisismoney.com and click on "Gilts" in the right hand panel on the
"News" page headed "marketwatch".
