There used to be an animal rights nutter on this newsgroup who tried, unsuccessfully, to
argue against the culling of rats on offshore islands in order to protect seabird
colonies.

There's recently been fantastic news from Lundy that, since the rats were removed,
breeding Manx Shearwaters are up tenfold in ten years, to over 3400 pairs, while Puffins
have increased from just 5 individuals ten years ago to this year's 300+.

Similar excellent results have been noted from other islands where rats have been
exterminated, including Ailsa Craig, Handa and Canna, with work starting on the Shiants.

Just by chance I thought I'd have a look at this ng and see you've
almost bored it into the wilderness and become the only and lonely
poster in months.

Malcolm is referring to me here and was so routed in discussion he
can't get over it

Get a life Malcolm.

LOL. Angus accepts the title of "animal rights nutter". Well, of *course* he does :-))

And as for being routed, you left this newsgroup because you could no longer sustain your
ludicrous claims about past sealevel changes as you sought in vain for evidence that the
red squirrel isn't a native species of Britain which arrived here after the last ice age
by crossing the land bridge from the continent, as did thousands of animals and plants.
It's amazing what nonsense paths that obsession led you down, denying the expertise of
professional archaeologists, geologists and geomorphologists.

Are you objecting to the proposed Flamingo Land development at Balloch? If so, on what
grounds, nimbyism?
