I've recently settled in the UK with my British husband and just started
teaching part time in HE in the UK. I was previously teaching at the
same level full time in the US, where I am from. I'm trying to decide
if I should opt out of the Teachers' Pensions scheme or not. I'm
assuming that if I contribute to it I would also need to have AVCs since
I'm nearly 40 already.
I have a pension plan (TIAA CREF)in the US and I've just emailed to find
out if I could contribute to it from here. In the Teachers' Pensions
booklet they mention contributing to overseas pension schemes.
Does anyone have any ideas of which would be better for me?
TIA
