Brit Mom Catches Teacher Hiding Under Her Daughter's Bed, Teacher Gets No Jail Time

A British teacher who had sex with a 16-year-old student before
being caught under her bed by her mom received a suspended 14-
month jail sentence and community service in court.
According to reports, the girl�s horrified mom �returned home
much earlier than expected� and caught 36-year-old Andrew Welsh
�cowering in a tiny storage door under the bed� of her 16-year-
old daughter after finding his shoes near the bed.
According to court documents, she saw �her impressionable
daughter had ruffled hair and smudged lipstick.�
In court, prosecutor Geoff Whelan said, �She saw movement of
material which seemed to match the suit jacket her daughter was
holding. She asked the girl, �What are you doing? Who is here?�
The girl replied �Mr. Welsh.��
�Her mother ordered the defendant to get out from under the bed
and recognized him from school. She called her husband, the
school, and the police. She also spoke to the head who told him
to return. He was arrested at the school,� Whelan said.
Welsh admitted to �kissing and cuddling� the girl but later
confessed to having sex with the girl at least twice.
Police also found �obscene texts� that he had sent to the girl.
One read, �Have you heard about my math lesson? We�re going to
find out if 35 goes into 16.�
Welsh said the encounters were consensual and it was his
�honestly held belief� that she had completed her final exams
and was done with school.
His attorney, Nicola Gatto, argued, �What possessed him to
embark on this course of conduct is really unclear. I am not
saying that this young girl led him on, but this was a young ger
who had attained the age of consent and she makes no bones about
the fact that she found Andrew Welsh attractive. He succumbed to
the attention and has paid a very high price.�
Welsh received a suspended 14-month jail sentence and community
service. He will also have to register as a sex offender for 10
years.
His wife has vowed to stand by him.
