Oh god! Not another term. The holidays went so fast. So much work
still to do. Not another term of John Gleed in my year 8 class. TELL
ME IT ISN'T SO! Pass me the whisky!

Obviously you haven't met some of the students I have to help! We're
talking litre bottles of scotch here!

Nick, Nick! I'll *never* forgive you for reminding me. I don't have
them to face 'till Monday. Pass the anaesthetic!

P.S. *I* know John Gleed. He goes by the pseudonym of Lee Stedman.
I wondered where he went when he isn't with us! Why don't you take
a bigger share of him, you miserable skiver!

I hope these ARE pseudonyms. Clients can sue for liable on the net you know.

If Lee Stedman wants to sue me, it should make an *interesting*
case. I could try a counter-suit for his effect on my health and the
quality of my life.

Well, there is also professionalism. Doctors tend not to discuss
individual patients no matter how distasteful they might be.
Discussing kids in an open forum when you do not know who might read
what you write seems a little risky to me.

Not at all, you write what you want as far as I am concerned. It seems
to me though that your colleagues who are trying to say teaching is a
profession and deserves to be treated as such are not helped by your
obvious lack in sensitivity to professional ethics. If a teacher
started posting comments to Usenet about my kids by name, or equally
if kids posted things about you by name, particularly without your
knowledge you might not be too pleased and with justification.

Do you advocate discussing individual pupils in a pub in a loud voice
after parents meetings, because it amounts to the same thing?

Your view of these individuals is your view. It might or might not be
accurate. I bet you would be the first to complain if an OFSTED
inspector observed your lesson then broadcast all the shortcomings to
Usenet under your name.

Not so much sanctimonious or lacking a sense of humour as amused by
the insensitivity :-)

What do the rest of you think? Should teacher comments about
individual pupils be confidential? Could be an interesting thread for
uk.p

>Watch your backs, lads and lasses! There's one in every staffroom.

Yes, I think I have found him. Strange how some people insist on being
natural victims.

Not a matter of whether or not I can stand the heat, I am no longer
teaching but it rather depends on what impression you want to give of
UK teachers.

OK, you want to be serious about it. So far I have likened one of
my more troublesome pupils to another who a colleague described in
an earlier posting. I have also implied that this pupil's conduct
has a detrimental effect uopn my health and the quality of my
life. If need be, I will defend that position in court.

Go on, make my day! Report me to (a) my head teacher, (b) my LEA,
(c) the DfE. and (d) the kid's parents. Then we can have some fun
with the Union, and if I get the push, you can gloat. You might
even raise a smile!

Watch your backs, lads and lasses! There's one in every staffroom.

Disgracefully unprofessional conduct. Not the slightest shred of
realisation that what he's been doing is a gross insult on particular
individuals; moreover those for whom he has some duty of care.

This so damn smug. For Christ's sake lighten up. We have to put up with the little
buggers all bloody day and if we can't have an innocuous little whinge on the net
without some job-worth trying to make out it's a capital crime it really is a shame. How
many kids do you think subscribe to this newsgroup?!? We need an outlet and this is as
good as any. What has been said is this thread is so light - we've all heard far worse in the
staff room. The individuals who attract this kind of response are forever engaging in
'gross insults' towards us.

GRRRRR!
