Now considering a replacement. What laptop manufacturers does anyone
recommend (or not!)
Thanks
Tim
Targus do a good line in decent replacement laptop adaptors, at half the
price too, usually.

We tend to use Dell Latitudes in schools. fairly reliable with a 3 year on
site (in theory!!) warranty and solidly built. Not cheap, but does the
business.

Dell. Toshiba used to be good too, but they've gone downhill recently.
www.6thplanet.com do cheap Dell laptops. We've bought from them several
times.
Then again ... the new Acer Travelmate 800 looked very nice when we had that
to play with for a few days. The only thing that makes us wary of Acer is
the poor support we have had in the past ... but everyone has there own
story about support from $COMPUTER_COMPANY :-)
The Boss had a look at the new Samsung laptops recently and was very
impressed ....

And I'll be reporting on the MicroDigital Alpha as soon as I get my hands
on one - it has the advantage of running two OSs:
Windows (spit!) and RISC OS 4.

Win2k reloaded instead of XP, ME or 98
Bit of a pain getting drivers for win2k but Sony are by far the most
reliable we've come across
Mail Marcus for a price for a 902 or 905 but don't forget to add Vat
