Agreed - simplest way to get a good finish is to lay the vinyl first, then
paint the skirting boards, then fit the skirting boards. Gives you about 1/2"
margin for error in cutting the vinyl. Use 'gripfix' to glue the boards in
place rather than nail / screw & damage the nice new paint.
I found it easiest with our vinyl was to cut slightly over-size (can be
difficult to estimate the exact size when you're wrestling with the stuff
folded up the wall!). Then cut properly to size once you can see what you're
doing....
Hope this helps - hate doing jobs like that where one slip of the knife can
ruin a piece of fairly expensive material (3m x 6m in our case!)
Good luck

I got the best results using a big pair of sharp scissors to do the final
trimming - it was a fake tile effect so there were 'guide-lines' to cut to.

Sorry - never heard of this - any idea who the manufacturer is - they probably
have a 'Technical Services' department who might give you some advice as to
how best to fit it....
Good luck!

Hello Stuart
> S| I am laying vinyl in my kitchen but the skirting isn't down
> S| yet . What i want to ask is -does the vinyl go down first
> S| followed by the skirting or should I put the skirting up
> S| first and should I leave a gap below it -to take the vinyl
Dealers' choice...
It makes for a tidier finish if you do skirtings last (tip - hotmelt
glue and no-more nails glue mixed gives quick grab and very strong
fixings - I've just done about 40M of it here and it's lovely!)
Downside is getting the old lino out when you need to replace it...
