We have a standard sort of UPVC front door, now about 20 years old I
guess.

There is a washer (nylon?) inside the door handle (one on each handle of
the pair, inside / outside). This washer seems to make the handle
tight, and also makes the movement smoother.

Both these washers have recently disintegrated: is there any hope of my
getting replacements (I can't see many possible candidates), and if I
did get replacements is there any hope of me fitting them? (They seem
to have been fitted behind the handle's fixing before it was pressed
into place at the factory.)

God knows what a new door handle set would cost (if I could even get one
that fits this door) ... for the sake of two nylon washers.

Any advice appreciated,

Cheers
John

There are not many different types of handle/lock on PVC and metal
doors, look for YouTube videos as to how to remove them.

If it is really just a flat washer with no internal "shoulder" look for
sheet plastic of the right thickness on eBay, and make your own. PTFE is
good for low friction, but a bit more expensive.

A used 2L ice cream continer is a good donor for thick plastic.
