Last autumn I fitted a Towerchron QE2 to replace an ancient CH controller
whose clock had stopped. Yesterday I came in to find the Towerchron had
died - instead of nice bright red LEDs to indicate it is on, only one
lights up very sickly and faint. No power is getting to the CH or boiler.
It still programs ok, just won't actually do anything.

Has anyone had one of these do anything similar? I'd take it back to B & Q
but of course I can't find the receipt now. Six months or so doesn't seem
a good lifetime for a CH controller, and I'm a bit reluctant to buy another
Towerchron if I'm going to have to fiddle about with bits of wire again
next autumn!

Are you sure it is still getting mains to it?

I can't help beyond that with this specific problem, except to say
that if it is dud it might have a date code on it somewhere which
would convince Grasslin it had failed under warranty. Or B&Q "might"
accept your word for it without the receipt.

Either way, there was one of these units installed in our house when
we moved in two years ago (probably installed a couple of years prior)
and it's still going strong (Though the programming instructions look
so complicated i've never gotten round to reprogramming it!)
