Nope, it looked like an ordinary masonry cutting disc except the face
of it had diagnol ribs going across it.

Should only be looking at the wall!
Grinding discs are a great way to ruin brickwork. Paint gets in the
pores, and at 11,000 rpm a grinder disc of any kind is far too fast to
get into the pores, unless it just rips them off. Totally the wrong
approach imho.
