Can the boiler condensate go into a soakaway? I have a surface water
drain very close to to the proposed boiler site but a foul water drain
is a long way away and could well need a condensate pump to be effective.

TIA

When I was considering the issue, I contacted the Environment Agency and
got a permit (actually, just a letter saying it would be OK).

This is what I believe should be done. And permission depends on location,
soil type, etc. And no charge of any sort was levied.

Well as you can buy soakaways for the purpose I can't see why you
can't use an existing surface water soakaway.

I got a combi fitted 2 years ago by corgi approved (or whatever the new
name is) and I am sure he used a soakway, it certainly wasnt plumbed
into a waste pipe or anything. I had the old style boiler pre that and
the new combi was installed in my garage. I have since sold the house
but I am sure thats what he did.

Should be fine.

after all, the condensate should be just watwer - as bit warm maybe - but
just water.

With a dash of nitric acid according to many sources (and sulphuric too
from oil boilers). So - I was told - a "soakaway" may not always be a
good idea in some places (eg straight into the footings).

It is a bit acidic but not overly so.

Pretty sure you are supposed to fill the small dedicated soakways
with limestone chippings.

Thanks for the info.

The soakaway is 3m or so from the foundations as per building regs for
surface water requirements. There's about 0.5cum of rubble in there.
If I get round to declaring the fitting of the boiler, I'll tell the
local BC then.

What effect might that have on a septic system?

None... its only a few litres a day, and no more acidic than say tomato
ketchup.

Good to know! We've fairly recently had a condensing boiler installed,
and the condensate goes into the same drain as the washing machine, and
thence to the septic tank.

<Threadnap> sorry.

My new Combi, waste goes outside and currently drips into a bucket until I
decide what to do with it
there is a rainwater drainpipe, right next to it, I have no idea where it
goes as it sinks into the ground
Can I cut into this to path the combi boiler condensate waste?

don't worry, I've found this
"A pipe must leave the boiler and exit in to a drain.
all condensing boiler's produce condensation, this condensation leaves the
boiler (in liquid form) via a waste pipe,
this waste pipe must exit in to a drain, either an outside drain or it can
"tap" in to a sink/bath/washing machine waste inside the property,
the pipe must have a downward slope of at least 5%.

so I'm fine :-)

Use 35mm waste pipe or larger for outside runs to prevent freezing.
