Just had a text message off them to tell me

"Your order is ready to collect. Please bring Photo ID with you and go
to the collection point at etc"

What photo ID?

The item is booked out to the Scout Hut, is under the Scout Hut's name
and address. Not only that I someone else actually ordered the part and
paid for it (cash.

Take the piss back by taking selfie with the text message and presenting
that as photo ID?

From complaints overheard at a recent visit it seems Screwfix may have
decided to ask for photo ID for [all?] pick-ups where payment wasn't by
card (when they want the card). May be driven by PayPal scams (much
like the eBay collection-in-person scam) so you're just collateral
damage. All I can suggest is take your photo driving licence (which I
assume a young man like you has); and threaten to go to Toolstation if
that's not good enough;)

You made the mistake of paying by PayPal?

> What photo ID?

Expired passport? Not valid for travel, but usually acceptable as ID

I have a photo driving license, ESC card, prison entry ID and a works ID
(the one that calms old ladies down when you knock on their door to do
some work and they ask for ID to prevent a scam even though work just
made it up using a printer).

None of them were needed. Just the receipt.

And to top it off I took back

https://www.screwfix.com/p/3m-temflex-insulation-tape-multipack-mixed-19mm-x-25m-10-pieces/4768x

that I bought in Stockton on Tees on Friday using my details.

It had two reds and no grey. All the ones in Wakefield were the same so
the manager just gave me a roll of grey and said "Have a good day".

I think that is it. I normally shop online from the desktop which
"knows" my card details, but occasionally I do an order to collect from
the phone. In that case, it's easier to use PayPal than to faff around
entering card details. Bus pass works as photo ID for Screwfix and most
other places (but not absolutely everywhere).

what's a photo ID card? Bus pass? (South Bucks just ask you to send a
photo and a completed form and send you the card back by post.) Rail
photocard? (You have to apply with a photo in person, but you don't have
to prove your identity as they don't care who you are.)

What is your identity, anyway?

Not very convenient to have to show them his
bare arse to compare with the photo ID tho.

I suppose it would leave a better impression with them than your stupid
senile face, Rot!

Interestingly blind folk have no driving license. I've had similar issues at
other stores recently, and luckily they are happy to use my disabled
taxicard, otherwise they would be stuffed. When I read the original question
I had an evil thought that a picture of the scout hut was fine then..grin.

Maybe you could apply for a provisional one, see what officialdom's
response is :-)

They must ask about your eyesight somewhere. You used to be able to ride
a motorcycle (up to 250cc) on a provisional licence, so there must have
been some check.

Not quite the same, but I used to know a Dutchman who had to carry photo
ID as a child during the Nazi occupation. Apparently he managed to get a
photo with him sticking his tongue out. So that, whenever challenged, he
was able to stick his tongue out at the official. This was the family
story, anyway! Sadly, the actual card hadn't survived.

I got an immersion heater switch £4.20 paid oon-line with card.
With paypal you need to take ID.

When I went to collect it I had the number from the email written on a scrap of paper they didn't want any ID, not even my card which I used to have to put in the machine and confim using my PIN.

I know one in India that has one. When I was married to the Slovakian au
pair that worked for an Indian Doctor he told me that he took he driving
test with his blind Dad sat in the back seat and for just a small extra
charge (in cash) the examiner gave his Dad a driving licence.

Could it be done if if I lobbed my cock out on the Screwfix counter and
asked the the staff to compare it with the one on the photograph?
